Hi everyone,

I posted sometime back in last September/ October asking your opinions on the possibility of my having contracted lyme (under the name FarBeyond). Since then I have been diagnosed with lyme following a positive Igenex IgM WB.
I just wanted to thank those who welcomed me and responded as the information gained was crucial in persuing my suspicion and, after two years and 17 doctors, getting diagnosed. I know this is an all too common story and despite the mountain ahead consider myself to be fortunate to have reached a diagnosis at all - I'm in the UK and Lyme literacy is v. rare!

Anyway thanks again and I look forward to future discussions.

HI Morti!
Glad to have you back with us!! I also wanted to say congrats on getting your diagnosis and that you found this site to be so helpful!!

Forgive me for not remembering your details, but do you have a Lyme Literate Medical Doc to help you treat your infection(s) yet? It's crucial to have a doc that has some understanding of these very complex infections treating you.

Have you started detoxing yet? That too is very important -even though a lot of docs don't understand how important it is yet. We have a wonderful post that explains what to use and how to detox in the "New to Lyme?" thread at the top of the forum. It's the second post in that thread, you should look it over if you haven't already!

Please feel free to tell us what kind of treatment you will be (or are already) getting!

Thanks AG.

Traveler - Thanks. Unfortunately the LLMD I was seeing has retired. I was incredibly fortunate to get in and get diagnosed before he did - without which I suspect I really might have struggled and certainly wouldnt have had the support of my GP both from the point of view of prescribing antibiotics and monitoring LFT's etc. I have been referred to another but have to wait until the end of Feb. Its Ok - this takes me to the end of the 3 months 200 mg bid doxy initially prescribed. I'll be glad to get of the doxy, along with its nausiating feeling and photosensitivity. I think the next course is then amoxi 500mg bd, azithro 500mg bd and tinizole 500mg bd for another 3 months.

On detoxing I have been dry skin brushing and having plenty of baths. I hadnt incorporated epsum salts because I was concerned about Mg interacting with doxy, but I just worked out this is an absorption issue in the stomach so no probs I guess. I couldnt find any guidelines for a quantity (g) of epsom salts to be using per average sized bath though. Any ideas?

Lemon water is another thing I can try as well right? I am taking some supplements and milk thistle for liver support (350mg/d)

Any other easy to achieve suggestions?

Ta, M

I usually dump in about 2 cups of Epsom Salts into my bath -- seems to do the trick.

When you say 2 cups do you mean approx 1/2 KG?

Hi Morti,
Can you do the conversion if I tell you that 2 cups is about equal to 1/2 liter?

Yeah its roughly equivilent so 1/2 L = 1/2 Kg. Boy, you guys must get through the stuff! How often do you have a ES bath?

For me at least three a week, I purchase the largest container of ES my grocery store carries 4lb (1.81 KG) each week. Anytime I'm having a bad day, a bath will always make it a bit better.

Hi,

I continue my investigations on detox baths and have ordered a bulk bag of epsom salts for £25 - works out at about 50p a bath. Hydrogen peroxide is another matter entirely. The cheapest I can find H202 is approx £5/l or £5 a bath (remember im a lymie or pom if your Australian). This is really expensive. My question is, is it worth it?
Thanks, Hugh

Well Hugh,
I can tell you that most of the members here that have used these baths will tell you that it's more than worth it. It's quite likely that it doesn't help absolutely everyone that tries it. Why not just buy a smaller bottle of Hydrogen peroxide to start with? I would suggest using these baths for a couple of weeks before determining how well they work for you.
