Does anyone have any experience with Oil of Oregano?  Any info good or bad would be appreciated.

Thanks, KO

I'm actually interested in the replies as well. But I must warn you, I've heard it's a very strong herbal and you should probably consult with your LLMD before taking it. :-)

I've used it on and off in the past for my sinus issues. it's a strong anti fungal and it does work. However, I was told to use it 3 weeks on and then take a break for at least a week. I guess that helps against building a resistance.

I didn't have any side effects from it. I once even felt a strong herx like reaction to it.

Hi KO-LD

Yes, Oil of Oregano is a powerful medicine. It kills fungus, bacteria and viruses.

My LLMD has had me taking if for most of my treatment. I take it for one month on and one month off. I noticed when my immune system was at its worst, I wouldn't get colds on the month I was taking the Oil of Oregano.

Whenever I started up after the month off, I would have a herx reaction.

So it's strong and it works, and you should consult your doctor before taking it!

I killed many sinus infections with it. I could literally smell the suckers dying in my nasal passages.

It is strong stuff

Hi Achievinggrace,

What dose do you take, did you have any side effects?  I don't have a doctor, I'm just doing herbal right now.

Thanks, KO

as AG-moderator it is anti everythng bad, the purported best organic and powerful brand is p73..it is powerful beyond belief and relatively expensive but worth it imo..all you need is 1-2 drops of this and its look out head

keep in mind if you have gut imbalances (lack of good bacteria) and most of us do, things like OoO Oil of Oregano will kill off good bacteria as well, since it is anti-bacterial; same with things like grapefruit seed extract and anything else anti bacterial.....

thus critical that you be on some form of good probiotics

KO,

I worked my way up to taking 50mg three times a day. I take an emulsified form from Biotics Research (a provider my doctor wanted me to use -- you have to have a doctor or practitioner refer you to them).

As for side-effects, it can be a little hard on the stomach, but then so is everything else I am taking! Definitely have to take probiotics just as you would with antibiotics.

Good luck!

Fyi- for those who look at this thread in the future it is contraindicated in those with anemia or pregnant. Apparently it also inhibits the body's ability to absorb iron (not extreme) but it does affect it.
