I started my anitbiotics Sunday. So far just a little burning stomach, and the feeling of yeast infection developing. If I dont get sick (probably might it usually takes 2 days for me to assimulate things) does it mean that I don't have lyme?

No, it doesn't mean that from what I've heard. Some people don't herx I hear. I got sick pretty quickly on doxy, but I've had good days and bad days. I've had weird things happen too (symptoms). I haven't been detoxing the past few days (except drinking lots of water) and i'm starting to feel funny again..gotta pick back up my detox routine again.

Make sure you eat clean and detox.

Hi Shinji,

Congratulations on starting your treatment! You might get a "honeymoon" period at first: you start to feel better. Then the herxheimer reaction can start. Some people don't get them at all, they just gradually start to feel better.

Do address the yeast issue right away. A systemic candida infection can produce back pain, fatigue, weakness and depression -- some people mistake those symptoms for Lyme or a herx.

Don't look down -- keep climbing upwards!

Thanks you guys. Weird symptoms are random jaw pain and a feeling that butterflies are trying to escape from my body, out my skin. One weird place for that feeling is in between two fingers.
Today is definitely honeymoon phase because I didn't have to take a nap...woohoo!
What should I do for the potential yeast? I am taking lots probiotics and just started garlic again. Has anyone tried NAC?

Hi Shinji, I should be starting mine this week too. My Dr's office mails out the prescriptions (like in the dark ages), so I have to wait to get them in the mail, then go get them filled. Unfortunately, your posts really scared me. I'm so new to this, that I didn't realize most get sicker after starting meds. Can anyone chime in and let me know what to expect? I'm mostly concerned because of my job. I need to at least "pretend" to feel well while working.

Thanks!

Hey, read my probiotic thread. It says much of our store bought unless the health food higher quality brands, isn't high enough in live culture. I learned most don't have live culture unless it's guaranteed and above 50 billion not 2 - 5 billion as that can't touch it. NAC I don't know.

I also wondered about herxing and read this which is running on the same opinion as some of the others her on the thread.

http://www.springboard4health.com/notebook/health_lyme_disease.html

There is anecdotal evidence to show that many patients do not have to go through severe Herxheimer reactions in order to get well. Severe Herxheimer reactions, in my opinion, are a result of an overload of toxins. ..........

It may be a mistaken belief that the severity of the Herxheimer reaction always means that more microbes are being killed. It may be more of a sign that the person's body is more toxic to begin with.

diam--I also was very scared (still am) about starting medication. I just started 2 weeks ago. It's tough. Some days are bad, some are ok...I still work though..so don't worry..you can do it. It isn't easy for sure. But it's the only way to get better. What happens is the meds kill the bugs and they die inside you and release toxins. That's why it's so important to detox, otherwise you will feel very sick.

Diam, so far I haven't felt bad but I am starting on a low dose. My doc knows that I am a sensitive person so he is having me take a lower dose for a week than bring it up next week.
So far if I eat small meals often the stomach upset isn't as bad.
So it could be you wont get sicker...I have been feeling horribly sick for two months so this is a nice little break for me. But if I start feeling sicker, man am I going to whine!

well, stabbing pains in my leg, now gone, rug burn feeling of my skin and rashes, headaches, even more confusion than normal, feeling like I see things in the corner of my eyes..I felt VERY unsafe driving yesterday for NO reason. I kept thinking something was on the side or in front of me. Even extra increased sensitivity to smell and sound. I didn't want to eat something I eat all the time yesterday and my husband said it was fine, but it tasted off and I didn't like it. I'm sure it pissed him off, because he made it and I trust him, it was probably fine, but I didn't like it one bit. It tasted "off" I can't explain it.

btw-I may have had some of these things before, but they are coming back now. Although the driving thing I've never had happen before. It was really scary.

Shinji--my LLMD is doing the same thing. Starting me on a low dose of only 200 mg doxy per day then ramping up.

Oh and I also felt a little bit "unfresh" below after starting abx. I had a Candida overgrowth to start. I'm taking lots of probiodics though. LLMD said 20 billion per day of acidophiles, but I am taking 50+ billion per day. I am feeling more fresh again. blush

I know what you mean by "unfreash" feeling. Great way to put it!.
Sunday after I started the Diox I got lost in Walmart. Our Walmart is being remodeled-so that is my excuse. I just kept finding myself back at this same blouse. Hey, wait a minute, didn't I just see you? It took me forever to find the door out of the place.LOL.
I also find that it feels like there is this dirty film that creeps up into my eyes...I think of them as young person's cataract or something.

Why can't we just get better? I know the scientific reasons, I'm just whining or dreaming! I go into homes and do therapy with children on the Autism spectrum. I do 2 hours with one child, drive to another home, 2 hours, and so on. As long as I can pretend, and not have to run to their bathroom, I should be fine. If I just had one boss, I would consider letting them know (if I found myself getting sicker), in hopes they would be understanding. I don't plan to tell my clients, because I'm there to help their child get better, they don't need to hear my sad stories!

I hope you continue to do well with the antibiotics, and see improvements!!!!!
