As most of you know, I am on the Zhang Protocol. I am supposed to take his Babesia and Lyme Protocol 3 times per day. I've only ever been able to take it twice per day, which is what I am doing now. Whenever I ramp up the dose, I get this air hunger or shortness of breath (like my brain is not telling me to breathe correctly) that is so scary for me, which is what I'm having now.

I don't want to go to the ER or anything because I'd be there for hours and most likely, it's some kind of herx. I'm so sensitive to any kind of medicine, herbal or otherwise, so full doses are usually too much for me.

Does anyone else get this while on Zhang? Is this Babesia being killed off (I hope!) I do like the Protocol, but I hate this feeling.

Hi Bella,

I can't speak to the Zhang protocol, but while I was healing from Babesia, the air hunger would come in attacks that would want me to go to the hospital. A couple times I did go as it was accompanied by heart issues.
It didn't help; the ER is no place to be when you feel like that!

Of course, the ER is the perfect place to be when you are in mortal danger!

Hope your treatment starts to give you some relief.

I've dealt with odd breathing issues for the last 12 years. They labled it asthma but it's never really fit the typical asthma symptoms. I wonder now if it's from babesia or bartonella.

I have found that caffeine helps me when I get short of breath. Is that OK with your protocol? I usually get a green tea or a coffee, it will help open up the airways. For me, it's worked better then the inhaler.

When my breathing problems were bad they had me on 3 different inhalers plus pills. I went to 4 different specialists over the course of 10 years and no one could ever help. They all did the same thing, and when I would say that it didn't work before, they would just try a different brand of the same thing.

The first major healing breakthrough I had with breathing was stopping all dairy (cheese, milk, cream. butter). I had a period where I coughed violently for two years. I was coughing so much it would make me throw up and my muscles were always sore. I frequently pulled rib muscles from coughing so much. It was a really difficult time as I just couldn't breath without massive coughing. People at work were afraid of me because I coughed so much.

I went to the "specialist" and told him that stopping dairy had stopped most of my symptoms and I was off of all of the drugs. He told me that didn't make any sense, so I never went back.

Later the cough would get triggered sporadically and I found that sugar was also feeding something that was causing it. So dropping sugar helped. And if I ate anything with commercial salt I would cough instantly.

Then I found out that I had a chronic sinus infection that was causing a post nasal drip that was making me cough. The doctors just wanted me to take steroids and inhalers, which I didn't want to do. I think most doctors hate dealing with me, I'm difficult.

My nutritionist helped me the most by figuring out the foods that nourish and the foods I had to stay away from.

Oil of oregano and some other herbs helped with getting things under control. Now the FAR infrared sauna seems to really be helping a lot with the sinus and breathing issues.

All of the specialists I went to made me feel like I was nuts. None of them helped me, they just added on drugs and made things worse. They all made me feel like I was nuts, almost like I was faking the cough. Honestly, no one would want to fake the stuff I was going through.

Things are better now, I have found people that help me holistically and I do a lot of research. A strict diet makes the breathing issues much better and the FAR infrared sauna is amazing for this.

I realize now that all of this has probably been Lyme, and I'm working hard to support my body in healing.
