So here is how it all began and I understand there are no Dr's on here but I just wanted to find out if it is possible that I have early stage Lyme from people who have been down that road.

On May 5, 2012 myself, my GF and dog went for a hike. After the hike there was a tick on my gf's leg and a few on the Dog. None on me.

On Tuesday May 8. 2012 I did find a tick in my hair. I am not sure how it got there I can only assume it came off my dog either that Monday or the Tuesday the day I found it. So I pulled it off and made sure someone checked my head to make sure I got everything out which I did.

The next day I called my Dr and got a script for Doxy which I was told to take one 100mg per day for 14 days. I took the Doxy for 5 days until I went away on 5/14/2012 and I forgot the script at home.

I first got a headache on 5/11/2012 and it lasted until 5/13/2012. When I got back from vacation on 5/19/2012 I started taking the Doxy again. It was one 100mg per day. I stated to read up on Lyme and saw the 100mg per day was not enough so I went to the Clinic and got a 14 day supply taking 2 100mg a day. This was on May 22, I took two 100mg that day and then I was only taking 100mg per day up until yesterday just because I always forgot to take the 2nd one at night.

Going back to the headaches, it came back on 5/19/2012 and I have had it since. It has been a very dull constant headache in the front of my head mostly in my forehead and between my eyes. Also, my head and vision just do not feel right.

I am now making sure I am taking 2 100mg Doxy per day and I have 11 days left. I see my PCP today.

My question is: does this sound like early onset Lyme that has just progressed because I have not been taking the proper dose of doxy. Or are my headaches and sinus pressure unrealted.

Again I know we are not Dr's but I just wanted advise from people who have been there before. Sorry for the long store.

Finally; I did not have a rash and never had any flu like symptoms, just the headaches.

Hi fredd,

Welcome to the forum!

Like you said, we are not doctors here. I will say that you have done very well to jump on this early and keep vigilant.

If I were you, I would finish off your script and keep a journal of symptoms. If the headaches don't go away, it would be good to seek out the advice of a Lyme Literate Doctor in case the doxy you have taken wasn't sufficient, either because of the dosage levels or the presence of co-infections.

Do take a look at our "New to Lyme?" thread to familiarize yourself with all aspects of this disease. And remember you are your own health advocate.

Hope the headaches go away soon.

yes - stay on top of it - it may be Lyme, it may be unrelated but see an LLMD as you have enopugh of a 'probable cause" for action. Plus, if it's a coinfection, the doxy may not even be addressing it.

Like the others said, keep an eye on it, definitely. One of the most important things to keep in mind with lyme disease is that early detection is key!

I can't tell you for sure what's causing your headaches or whether you were infected, but at this point, in general, it might be a good idea to amp up your immune system, just in case. Make sure you're drinking enough water to keep your body detoxifying itself, eat a little healthier, make sure to take your multivitamin, etc.

Please do keep in mind that despite plenty of research and recognition some doctors still don't take lyme seriously. Should you start to have more symptoms, don't let anyone tell you, "oh, no, you took an antibiotic so you can't have lyme!" I don't mean to scare you - healthy immune systems are great at fighting off early infections; I just want to make sure you know what you're up against just in case! Be well!
