Been having intermittent neck pain (front near windpipe) and trying to figure out if it is babesia or the meds / herx (on mepron, azithro, artemisinin) or something totally unrelated.

Anyone with Babesia have dull achey pains in the neck? It is the only symptom that has started in the week+ I've been on the Babesia meds. I would think if I was herxing, some of the other symptoms would be peaking as well.

Also, does azithro and mepron attack the lyme at all?

I would think it is herxing but anytime I have any problem with my neck or throat I always ask my doctor because I have had allergic responses and you don't want to mess with that.

My neck pain is in the lymph node area and I think it's due to bartonella. Sometimes other infections pop up more when you treat a different one.

Zithromax does go after the cell-wall deficient form of Lyme. I don't believe Mepron targets Lyme.

Hi dojopo,

I have a lot of neck pain and dull strangling sensation from the Babesia. I haven't worked out a pattern, whether it has something to do with herx, being tired, I can't tell.

The zithro, mepron and artemisinin will keep the Lyme at bay while you get the Babesia resolved. Sounds like you are in good hands!

Take care.

Hi,
Found your blog while trying to understand neck pain thats recently come on since I started mepron. It scared me at first because I felt like I might be having a reaction. I have recently began treatment for babesia and will begin abx for Bb next week. Diagnosed with MS in 2001, after back surgery wasn't the fix for my weak leg. Have lesions in my brain, c-spine and thorasic. LLMD believes it's lyme. Igenix WB came back indeterminant but I am immunosuppressed with low IgG and IgM so antibodies may not be fighting bug well enough to register. WEnt to Conn to have Advanced Labs lyme culture done since NY hasn't approved it yet and waiting for results.
How did your treatment go?
