Hi All,

I just happened to talk to the medical assistant at my LLND's office and she said "oh, your Advanced Labs Lyme test is in".  She emailed it to me and it's NEGATIVE.  It says "Patient blood culture displays negative growth in long-term culture.  Final Report".

OMG...I am so scared now that I don't have lyme and instead of something like MS.  Remember, I have 20+ lesions on my brain and SO MANY of my symptoms are MS like!!!

Wow...here I go again.....

I wish I hadn't gotten this test done... Because now I'm scared.

For those who don't know me, I've tested positive many times on the Igenex test with a highly positive Erlichosis test.  My LLND said he wanted me to get this test done and that it will soon be the "gold standard" of testing.

Any thoughts anyone?

i know how you feel.. i also tested negative on the advanced labs culture after having +igm bands 23 and 39 on the western blot and an abnormal brain spect scan.

the docs decided that it was a false negative and started me on i.v. antibiotics. so it's possible that your result is a false negative as well...

Carrie: Mold exposure will also cause brain lesions. Have you any chance been exposed to mold in the past?

These tests make me crazy, they come out with a new one and say its fool proof and then you get a negative result. Why did your doctor re-do the test when you had positives from Igenex?

I'm so sorry you have to go through all this uncertainty and questioning! I don't know much about this test yet - is it a blood culture? What we do know about these bacteria is that they're good at hiding, so maybe they just weren't detectable. Maybe they're in cyst form. Maybe in biofilms. So many maybes, I know.

What has your doctor said about this? And is your current treatment helping? At the end of the day as much as we want to know what's really going on, what matters is making it go away.

Also I believe advanced labs is only testing for borrelia strains and im not sure how many strains. If you have erhlichia/anaplasma not sure they test for that...do you know if they test for coinfections?

it is such a rollercoaster trying to figure out what is wtonb with us so we can be confident in treatment choices.

Were you in treatment when you sent sample to advanced labs? I also had lesiions on my brain that the neuro dismissed as being caused by my migraines. Why didnt he take the nexg logical step and ask why I was having migraines, I had nof had them most of my life, headaches but not migraines. I really belive our medical deserves a D-. We need to have the ability to give public feedback on our care so othr4s can protect themselves and their families. But they have a strong lobby and ghey have the money. So all we can do once we figure out they are not wrth our health, time or money all we can do is walk away.

Carrie I would go with the Igenex results. Many people have lesions who have Lyme. Do you have some symptoms that aren't typical of MS?

What kind of treatment are you on?

I have a friend who tested positive for Lyme several yrs ago and they told her it was a false positive and instead is treating her for MS. I told her about my Lyme and are symptoms are similar so now she's looking at that instead of MS.
