Hi everyone, I'm so scared and CONFUSED and desperately need help. I'm a 20 year old male and since June of 2011 (almost a year and a half) have been dealing with very strange symptoms that have gotten worse in some ways. I have no recollection of being bitten by anything or any rash.
It started with shooting pains in my neck (thyroid I think) and then warm feelings on the back of my feet, as if someone were rolling a warm water bottle against them... VERY weird, then a few days into it came the tremors and all over muscle twitching. The muscle twitching has been going on almost 24/7 since. I have had bouts of terrible joint pain and chest pain. I get headaches. Things I never experienced a lot before. When this all began I got an EBV (mono) test done and it came back neg. Fast forward to now and I test positive... I have swollen lymph nodes all over (behind ears, under arms, groin, neck etc) so maybe that's mono??
Anyway, I went to a neuro back in January, had an MRI that came back ok, I've had 2 EMGs that came back clean, EEG was good, various tests came back fine. I also had a lyme test done that came back with zero positive bands, it wasn't a western blot (or ELISA) so not really sure about
What my neuro did find is my thyroid is inflamed (possibly Hashimoto's)... but could my thyroid really cause all of this? I have a very hard time believing that. I went to my dr and he said my thyroid levels were only slightly off and we'd keep an eye on it, so I haven't gotten treatment for it.
Some scary symptoms I've been experiencing lately:
-slight weak/numb feeling on the right side of my body only. right side of face will feel like novocaine is wearing off, leg and arm feel weird. gets worse with anxiety. happens every couple days or so. very weird
-right leg causes whole body to shake in certain positions, very weird
-tremors in hands and arms and also internal buzzing occasionally
-toes will twitch constantly (my whole body does all the time but this has been more frequent)
-Memory/thinking is VERY foggy/bad. (I was playing a game with my boyfriend today, went into the kitchen to grab something, came back and totally forgot we were playing a game. what the hell?)
Anyway, I just don't know if this is really Lyme or what! If all my bands came back neg does that mean it's not likely? I've been dealing with this for over a year with no clear answers... I'm going to see a neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic campus Oct 9th so I'm hoping that will help to rule out more sinister diseases. I'm a broke student with little support from family so an LLMD is out of the question at the moment.
What do you guys think? Do my symptoms sound like Lyme? Despite the my neg test?
