Using Activated charcoal - which you can get at a health food store - is great to use, although be sure to only use it 2 hours before and/or 2 hours after you eat any food, take any meds, herbs, or supplements or any other thing that you need your body to absorb. Activated charcoal will bind to all things and remove them from your body.
The other thing is that just taking activated charcoal isn't enough - it's only part of the picture. Your body will still continue to try to detox in all ways - through the skin, bowels and urine. If those detoxing pathways aren't working well also, then your body will continue to struggle a lot longer than it needs to. That's why we suggest highly that all methods of detoxing be followed.
As for how to go about
these things without making yourself feel worse, well sometimes there's no way around it, but generally if you start off slowly, you can work past the "hard" part of getting started. For example - to start off I would suggest that you use the dry skin brushing (even if your skin is really sensitive, then I can explain how to get started), the detox foot soak (a gentler way to get started), and eating as healthy as you can as well as drinking at least 64 ounces of plain water each and every day. If you aren't having muscle spasms, twitches and cramps you can add lemon juice to help detox further and help with taste.
As the bacteria die off -whether naturally or because of treatments- they produce toxins that drive our symptoms. When there is a large die off, we really notice our symptoms increase, and this is herxing, or a healing crisis. When the body is in crisis, it will either slow down the healing or completely stop the healing, depending on how severe the herx is. (www.encognitive.com/node/5768
