Amen. I was Soo bad yesterday. I ate all the things I wasn't supposed too. This has actually happened to me quite a bit where either I haven't been feeling well in general and so I try to eat pretty healthy then and I always happen to get sick around the holidays. People are always like "oh you have to try this" and you get roped in BUT I've found that the best excuse that works is just "I was so bad, I was starving and I ate before I came!" (It also actually helps if you are tempted to stuff yourself before hand with healthy food) This will at least get people to stop bugging you to try a bunch of things. Or maybe you can have a bite of a few things and pass it off to your kids or spouse :) I'm really, really, good at passing off food.
One of my favorite recipes this time of year is for spiced, mulled apple cider. I wonder if you can get low-sugar apple juice....
Anyway there is a lot of good stuff in it if you brew it from scratch. All Spice, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cranberrys, ( I throw a lot of cranberries in mine), maybe the recipe can be altered and have ginger and other Lyme-fighting herbs thrown in it too. It is decadent...especially with spiced brandy but well - that might wait for another time!
