Hello everyone, here is my medical history: https://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=2292905&p=2

In September I was at LLMD in Germeny. She did some LTT tests, Lyme came back negative, chlamydia pn., bartonella and EBV were positive/on the border. CD57 was on 20 (very low). First two months I was on minocycline, rifampicin and cotrim, next two months cotrim was changed for azitromycin and last 4 weeks minocycline for doxy. I had last LTT tests two weeks ago, everything came back negative, CD57 is on 140 (very good), bartonella is at the border (IgG antibodies.) I must say I feel great physically, almost all of my symptoms are gone. But there is another problem: My mental health! Im anxious, I have panic attacs, weird thoughts, paranoia, derealization.. Ive never had it before. Its pretty scary, I dont want to be crazy :( My LLMD thinks it can be side effect of ABX protocol (rifampicin?) or one of the manifestation of bartonella. She suggests to stop all ABX for two weeks and wait whats gonna happen. What do you think? What would you do? Does anyone have problems like this? Thanks for your help.

Have you been detoxing? It could be that the toxins from all of those treatments and the work they've been doing have built up and are causing at least some of your issues. Most of the symptoms that you've listed are Lyme related.

I know you said that your Lyme test came back negative, but there have been many studies done showing that sero-negative tests are frequently wrong. There are several reasons for this - one, the current testing relies on the bacteria being in the blood at the time of testing or the immune system being able to respond. Not to mention that there are over 300 different strains world wide of the Lyme bacteria, and only 4 or 5 of the strains are used to test for, that leaves a whole lot of strains not being tested for! Something that you should consider since you have those symptoms.

Im pretty sure I dont have lyme - I had about 20 WB tests, 3 LTT tests, all were negative, many PCR tests including spinal tap. LTT tests have about 95 % sensitivity, its best known test nowadays, its not based on antibodies. You can read more here: www.infectolab.de/index.php?id=51&L=1
All of my symptoms fit more to chlamydia and bartonella infection and the treatment was aimed on that bugs. Bartonella is the last thing that remains positive...
Im detoxing in infra sauna, eating charkcoal, drinking 3-4 litres of water etc.. I dont know what to. I dont wanna hurt my relatives or myself..

Hi James,
First I wanted to let you know that all I did to your post was make that link into a hyperlink for anyone else that wanted to read more about the LTT test. And thank you for that link!

I did read on the LTT test there and other places and it still relies on the immune system response to determine if a person has Lyme. All tests relying on the immune response leave a lot to be desired since it's well known and documented in many studies how Lyme suppresses and evades the immune system. Even the Dark Field Microscopy has it's limitations, since it depends on the spirochetes being in the blood at the specific time of the blood draw.

In Infectolabs own words, on their own site, it says that this test has "diagnostic gaps", which means it misses infections. I am only suggesting that rather than assume that you are one of those in the clear, but, considering your ongoing symptoms, that you could be one of those that this test will not work for (like many of us here) - especially since you have some distinctive cognitive symptoms of Lyme.

With that being said, Bartonella & Lyme can both trigger panic attacks and rage. So you do need to be careful to release any rage in a safe environment.

Maybe it's time for a second opinion from another LLMD?

I'm sure that by tomorrow or the next day, others will be active on here again and you will be able to get many other opinions about your situation as well.

I dont think my IS is suppressed, because my LTT test for CPN was 10 (>2 is positive), after 2 months of ABX was 2 and after 4 months was 0. My humoral immunity and other tests are normal. I think that psycho symptoms are very typical for bartonella even more I dont have any other symptoms any more. I'll try to stop doxy for few days and I will see. I've read something about interaction between rifampicin and tetracyclines.

Well, do be careful! Watch for signs that your symptoms are increasing, as we don't need you having even more concerns about hurting yourself or others!

And best of luck! I do hope that this is nothing more than the need to stop your abx. Please do let us know how you are doing tomorrow and the next day or two. I for one will be watching for when you "report in" to see how you are doing!

Take care.

I'm so glad that you are feeling better! Those type of symptoms are hard to deal with! Although, that would indicate that your body isn't detoxing well enough. I would really encourage you to increase your detoxing.

I have treated bartonella successfully with your same combo of antibiotics. It's a very good combo because it's effective also against borrelia and Cpn. However, it worked for me only after I started a biofilm reducing protocol.
But I never had the symptoms you described, they're possibly due to hypersensitivity to some of the antibiotics.
I don't know whether there's a detox connection. If I were in doubt, which I have been in the past, I'd measure my reduced glutathione levels. It doesn't matter what you do (saunas, etc), if your body doesn't make enough glutathione you'll never detox adequately. I'd also check my heavy metals which can increase after treatment with antimicrobials.

Hey James! I've been following your posts as I realize I have some of the same unexplained symptoms (persistent flashing light aura, tinnitus, some minimal paresthesias, etc.). Any updates on how things are going or if the doctors have been able to diagnose/treat your symptoms?
