Well, good news eveyone! I don't have Lyme Disease anymore, I have Sleep Apnea! It turns out that all of my remaining symptoms are just a bad case of being overtired. Hahaha!
This is actually what the ID doc told me. It was like she was reading from a script
of what you all have described. Incredible!
I explained how my symptoms have been occuring for years, but she wouldn't hear any of it because my Western Blot showed IgM antibodies, which means it's only a recent infection.
I pleaded that since my test was indeed positive and that I was still having symptoms, what would be the harm in extending antibiotics for awhile?
She told me that for a recent case, I only needed 2 weeks of doxy, which is what she would have given me if I had been her patient.
She said that she would give me 2 more weeks if I really wanted it, but that I didn't need it and that it would do no good.
I told her that the doxy was doing some good so far, in that the lesions on my tongue were gone, and my restless leg twitching had stopped, but she basically said that LD doesn't cause those things.
Also, since my joints never swelled, only ached, I didn't really have a bad case (according to her).
She heard me say that I sometimes have a hard time falling and staying asleep, and so she latched onto this as an umbrella for all of my ailments.
She also tried to say that my sleep schedule was likely inversed or that I have sleep apnea, and suggests I go to a sleep clinic.
I told her that I was in the Army for 4 years, and I have worked all kinds of schedules, early morning, overnight, etc., so I know what being overtired and having a messed up sleep schedule feels like. It doesn't feel like this.
So, bottom line, I got an extension on my antibiotics until I can get in to see the LLMD. I hope that the LLMD will extend them as well from there on the first visit, but not sure.
I didn't expect that the ID doc would really be of help, but I guess I needed to try (and get more doxy).
