I think I may have jinxed myself after saying I felt pretty good.

Last night I started herxing. I had intense, shooting all-over body pains, regular pain, exhaustion, a massive headache, clenched up hands, bad brain fog.

I feel a little better this morning, but still not "right" (as "right" as anyone feels with Lyme.)

I have been taking activated charcoal, which has been helping. I wonder if the AC is killing something as well as detoxing? Or maybe I just have a lot of toxins in my body- but I detox all the time and tolerate it pretty well.

Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks in advance :-)

Activated charcoal is a binder not an antimicrobial treatment. To my knowledge it would not kill anything. It's possible it could contribute to a herx under certain conditions but is not likely to directly cause a herx.

If you took it too close to your meds/supp/herbs, it could have contributed to a worsening of symptoms. If you took large amounts (more then 3) or took a lot of doses in one day, then it may be possible that it removed a good bit of toxins and the body responded by dumping even more toxins. Cholestyramine tends to work that way. It is a prescription drug that is a bile sequestrant and is the strongest known binder of biotoxins. It can cause one heck of a herxheimer. I am not sure that charcoal could act in that way or not, as it functions differently.

Most likely you are simply herxing from treatment. Herxes don't always happen immediately after starting or increasing treatments. It can often be delayed for days to weeks and can recur later after no changes simply because the treatment may be reaching different layers of the infection or symptoms of other infections may start to come out and show themselves as the infection being treated begins to subside.

Hope this helps.
