I have a giant sensitivity to gluten- not celiac, but all the neuro symptoms I listed in my last forum post are hugely amplified after I eat it. You can never be too careful when eating out- I had a salad with gyro meat on it. Apparently, the mixture of lamb and beef they use and carve off a giant wedge also has flour added to it (for some reason?). After I found out I immediately ran to the bathroom in the restaurant and tried to make myself sick, to no avail. I tried again at home and just ended up sweating and getting horrible back pain. I was so desperate I even searched for Ipecac at all the local drugstores- nothing. Usually my symptoms wake me up around 6 AM and I can't breathe and my heart is racing and my brain feels like it's going to explode.
I'm already getting the out-of-body feeling and I am unnaturally exhausted, and my thoughts are processing very slowly, but I don't want to go to sleep because it's far worse to be woken up by the big symptoms than to get them while still awake.
Is there any way to ease the symptoms of accidental gluten ingestion, and does anyone else have brain problems from it? I took three digestive enzyme tablets, drank at least four cups of water, took a bath with epsom salts and sea salts after dry brushing, and took a bunch of magnesium. Otherwise, I'm out of ideas. I was recently prescribed Valium for emergency situations such as that, but I'm afraid it will negatively affect my brain and make the neuro symptoms worse. Do you guys know anything about that? Will it calm me down enough to sleep?
These are the symptoms I get (copied from my last post because my brain is too tired to write them all again): "feels as though my heart, brain and lungs shut off all at once. A terrifying stillness. Then, I get a giant headrush that travels through my entire body and my heart starts racing and I can't breathe very well. It feels like my brain is trying to burst out the back of my head and the pain moves from my neck to behind my eyes to the base of my skull very quickly. I get chest pains. My arms and legs are shaky and weak. My stomach becomes very bloated. My neck makes these tiny little electrical-sounding cracks and I get horrible tinnitus. I hear things in either ear, like shrieking or banging. Also I'm exhausted but every time I fall asleep/pass out I have these racing, terrifying dreams and my brain does that jump/whoosh thing and I jolt awake. This lasts for about three hours and every time I'm thinking 'this is the end, this is it.' I thought it was a panic attack, but I feel too crazy and my brain is too weird and it lasts far too long for that."
If that happens and I take a Valium, will it help? Does it help any of you?
