Boy what you said about hoping to spread the knowledge about Lyme to doctors and trying to be basically a trail blazer for those of us who are coming along behind you really sounds familiar. Thanks for the generous mindset.
I have told myself I can use this horrid experience to help others survive. I can get the word out to doctors. Hmmm. Part of me says who are we kidding?
But, there really is progress out there, it's just maddeningly slow. NATCAPLYME is having a support rally in Virginia to celebrate a disclosure bill which requires docs to disclose the possibility of false negative tests when they test for Lyme. Arizona Health Dept. now admits Lyme is in AZ. West Los Angeles vector control has an Ilads flavor to their web info.
Yep, this bs we deal with sucks. My son has some 35 symptoms off one list but the Lyme rage MUST be bi-polar according to a psych. we met briefly.
I'd be wary of going to the Psych because the labels they use can be sticky. You don't need someone making a formal diagnosis that this is 'all in your head', unless you've got neuro that is.
My experience is that people are very ready to belive we desperately like the attention we get from going to docs. I really don't like the bump in my blood pressure personally. I'd love to use the time for fun things like laundry and dishes.
Since that neuro is not treating you I would say no, thanks, I'll pass. My opinion.
He said he needs help, tell him you can recommend him a good shrink - the one that says YOU don't need a shrink.
If you are still unsure of what is right for you, the meditation sounds very smart. What's your posture when you think about going to the psych? How are your face muscles and hands? Shoulders, stomach, back? Any tension over normal?
I could blow a gasket when I think about being offered psychotropic drugs for my 8yr old, but I can't get antibiotics?! On the other hand, maybe the psych will offer you something fun?! Kidding.
Rant away. Then, do something nice for yourself. I like lavender oil in my bath.
Oh, Omega 3 oil is linked to mood. Better from the flax than fish just because we poison fish. If you get extra, whole flax seed grows pretty flowers (blue or red) which have nifty seedpods which rattle gently in a breeze. Mmmmm.
