Golly Gee Shucks!! *digs toe of boot in dirt*
Thank you for your kind words, but I just did the "next right thing" to the best of my ability. My hubby and I have adopted that saying and do our best to follow it. Just seems right, you know?
Hubby actually had 70% of both lungs full of blood clots and from hip to ankle in both legs were "packed full" is what his doc and the surgeon that put in a special filter in his vein told me. Pretty much scared the beejeebers out of me! It will have been 5 years at the end of December of this year, and he's still here!
Yes, we have been down a rough road at times, but who hasn't? My hubby has always amazed me with his compassion - even with his own dad moving in with us for -what we later found out - the last 2 months of his life. He had Alzheimers (hubby and I are pretty well convinced was due to Lyme & other tick-borne diseases) and although my hubby had a few rough spots, he handled it all so very well! He really is my inspiration, as he also has severe degenerative disc disease and arthritis all through his back and arthritis in all his other joints as well.
We have been celebrating as we are now in a place where both
of our health is stable!
I admire that outlook of Barngurl's as well!!! I hold the same attitude - I wouldn't change anything - it's all made me who I am today, and I kinda like who I am!!! I try to live without regrets - not always easy to stop and help someone when you are late to a doc's appt or whatever, but ....... if it had been me and no one reached out, I wouldn't be here today!
We want these diseases to change us to be honest - to be more aware, to be more compassionate, to care about
what others are going through - even if they look fine - and to learn from. My hope is that we don't allow it to take our joy, as that would be such a shame since it doesn't have to be that way.
I'm still very active outdoors (just came in from digging sweet potatoes!! YUM!) and plan on continuing to have a large garden and take walks and whatever else I choose - only I've learned to not go out without either using deet or specially treated clothing, wearing a light colored shirt with long sleeves, long pants.....and strategically placed duck tape!!!
