Thank you so much for sharing your story, it truly gives those of us starting on this difficult journey hope and we all know how very important that is.
One question, I know you also have/had POTS. Did either that or the Lyme flare after you started acupuncture? I'm considering adding it.
When I started using acupuncture, everything
flared, but that's because we were bringing my immune system back on line and getting my detoxing pathways functioning better (so I had more toxins moving through my organs, which they weren't real happy about
at first), and trying to support my organs and their functions, which is something that needed to happen, but at first it was like it only served to piss everything off! LOL! Fortunately, I had a very gifted and intuitive acupuncture therapist that knew how to calm my body very quickly. I always felt better when I got off the table than when I first laid down, but the real work was helping my body detox when I got home.
When I first started going for those appt's, it was a 45 minute drive and my husband had to drive as I simply couldn't stay awake that long. I was always exhausted and we were going once a week for the first two months (approx), then we backed down to only going twice a month. The transition wasn't easy for my body to adapt to, as it liked the extra help, but I still agree that it was time. I am still amazed that I was told by everyone when I was trying to use abx that it would take me 10 or more years to heal, and yet when I treated with herbs, I was only in treatment for 2.5 years, and this includes the first 6 months of nothing but work to get my body detoxing and the organs/systems balanced back out.
But, I can't deny the struggles that I had while healing. They were difficult to get through - and I don't say that lightly. I had horrible pregnancies and deliveries of my 2 children, and yet that was nothing compare to what I had to go through to heal Lyme and company. None of this is easy and is likely the hardest thing any of us has had to get through if you have chronic Lyme with co-infections.
That's where this forum, and others like it, come in. Come here to get understanding of your struggles (we've been there too!), to get ideas on how to help yourself not suffer so much as you go through this (there are some very inventive people here!), and for our cheerleading efforts!!
We make good cheerleaders!!
