I have never had migraines before. Since being diagnosed with lyme I have had a few experiences where I get flashes of light in my eyes then it progresses to tunnel vision with multi colored "squiggly" lights in my peripheral vision, and a headache begins shortly thereafter. Has anyone developed headaches, migraines, and auras since being ill? This is very scary sad

Hi lymerunner,

Yes, I developped migraine auras last summer. First time was really really scary...
I realize now that I had been having migraine attacks (without aura) since a really long, as well as cluster headaches.
I didn't know what it was, I thought I was loosing my sight. I think it's funny now, but I was scared at the time.

I tried a few different kinds of medication to bring down the peaks in my headaches. But it's a search that is different for everyone.
Just one advice' as soon as you feel it coming (you'll learn to recognize the beginning of an episode with time) while driving, pull over and wait for it to pass by. I've had it coming up a few times while driving, and it's pure suicide...

I didn't tart getting them with Lyme but got them in the past when I stressed my mind or body. My advice if it happens again, as soon as you start getting the aura, take 600-800 mg. of Advil. This will prevent you coming down with the migraine. I'm able to prevent the migraine pain if I take the pain meds at the first sign of aura or. Migraine coming on. Once it kicks in, regular pain meds won't work very well, just take the edge off.

Thanks, Inspired, I will try the Advil! It was very scary Marie!! I'm a nurse and I was trying to dispense medications to several patients and could not seem my computer screen to read their orders!!! I had to have another nurse take my place until it passed!! Thank goodness I haven't been driving! I will pull over like you said and just close my eyes. It does seem to help
