Path., at some level I think you're right, but the Cowden protocol worked really well for me. The thing is, I did act as my own doctor, and tailored Cowden to my own needs. Had I done Cowden the Cowden way, it would have been way too strong. It's lucky I know so much about
my body and about
Lyme. Then I had diarrhea, and had to stop. But I had so much more energy from just a few drops a day, it was unreal. I was able to cross country ski! I started taking control of my life, etc. etc. Now all that nice stuff is going away.
Now I'm trying Buhner, but the good thing is that I'm working with Buhner's herbalist, so she can help tailor Buhner to my own needs. She hasn't even put me on the Buhner protocol yet; she's addressing my other needs first. My guess is that she will adjust Buhner to my needs.
Lyme Contract, yes you're right; it would be expensive! But how do you tailor a book to your own needs? At least the Cowden protocol is clearly laid out.
Tick bite, my experience with LLMD PAs is that they're not so great. I have heard that both Dr. J's (DC) and Dr. P's (Raleigh) PAs are pretty awful. I also think doctors in general are so stressed, that they're hiring PAS and NPs out the wazoo, and many of those just don't know as much as doctors. Ok, I'm going to be a little old lady, and say, "In the good old days, when I was young, there were no NPs or PAs, the doctor had plenty of time, and you didn't need insurance, because it didn't cost much!" I don't mean to go off track, but in the 60s, I remember the doctor coming to our house with a good old black bag!
I like the fact that Dr. Ho has a comprehensive approach, but again, I'm really not sure how to use it. I guess I will try to skim through the book. It's on my old Kindle, so that makes it a little difficult.
There is no way I could take all the supplements he recommends. There are too many!!
PS, I hate C. Diff., and I can't believe it even exists (!) along with Lyme (!!!)
