I'm very new to this whole Lyme thing and would love anyone's thoughts or guidance on my situation as I'm having trouble getting in touch with my Lyme Dr when I need him!
I had a nasty tick bite approx 2 years ago, didn't get sick at all but did have a big localised reaction, I looked like I had a cauliflower ear for 4-6 weeks, and it was hot and very painful. I didn't seek any treatment as I read online at the time that Lyme does not exist here in Australia…. hmmmm!!?! I'm learning pretty quickly that the jury is still out on that one.
My last 2 years has been filled with loads of random symptoms, from mood swings, angry outbursts, inner tension, mind racing, thinking I'm going completely bonkers! (My nickname is Smiley - I'm usually a very cheerful relaxed person) Physically I have had various joint bursitis, mild arthritic pain in my small bones of hands and feet. The numbness and tingling I get in my legs/feet is scary! A few episodes of hot flushes, esp at night. And some days the worst brain fog, trouble concentrating, and feeling of fatigue ever. I seem to have a new symptom last for a few weeks and then it seems to go away and a new one pops up. They hang around long enough that I think there is something else going on.
My Dr is convinced that I have it, and co infections too although all my bloods so far (from Igenex and Aust Biologics) have come back negative. It has cost me many thousands of dollars having all this done and despite the negatives, the dr is still keen to treat me for Lyme + 2 confections.
I am taking a 'challenge' course of Bactrim antibiotics this week to see what happens. So far (day 5) I have not really had any exacerbation of my symptoms, except for today, feeling completely overwhelmed and frustrated and the muscle twitching is driving me mental. The muscle twitching has me worried as my grandmother had Motor Neurone Disease and I keep wondering if it could be that, or is this a 'reaction' to the antibiotics???
I have also recently been diagnosed with Pyrrole disorder, and am seeing a different dr who wants me on zinc, b6, and magnesium of which I am lacking. I read somewhere that Lyme can bring on Pyrrole and whether anyone has any experience or thoughts on this? There is seeming to be many symptoms that are similar so I'm wondering whether to just treat pyrrole and see what happens, or jump in and be treated for Lyme? I hear everyone getting so unwell from herxing etc, it scares me greatly, as I have 2 little kids and a hubby who is lovingly creating an empire! https://www.healingwell.com/community/emoticons/smilewinkgrin.gif
I would be very grateful for any ideas, my brain is feeling like its going to combust, and I'm feeling pretty alone with it all….. especially anyone else in Australia?? Thanks in advance for reading.
