so my son has been doing so much better lately; to the point of that I thought "wow, maybe we're almost done with this!". He's been on antibiotics now for just over nine weeks.
Then all of the sudden yesterday and today he's complained of joint pain, which is something I thought had fallen by the wayside. He had only complained of joint pain once in the past month, which was great! Before that it had been several times a week, and multiple times a day sometimes.
I thought we were down to just tummy aches, an occasional sore throat, and even rarer headache. (just two headaches in one month even), but like I said yesterday it was his ankle, and today his knee, twice.
And, some fatigue today which horribly reminded me of what it was like a month ago. He hasn't had the fatigue in weeks, but there it was today.
So, my question…is this normal in the process.
Why do you think the joint pain came back yesterday and today when it had virtually disappeared, and the fatigue?
Do you think it is herxing? I haven't added anything new in the past few days, but he hasn't had an epsom salt bath every night like I'd been doing for awhile; just every few nights or so. Could that make a difference, or is it just how this bleeping, bleeping thing goes. I know he's made great progress, and I can't get discouraged, but it was hard to hear him say his knee hurt today. I so want this to be over for him.
one other thought: he's had a more sugar than normal from Sun. even until today. Easter candy, and more easter candy, carrot cake, and more easter candy. I try to keep it in moderation for him, and not have him go hog wild, but yet, it's definitely more than normal. I've read sugar can increase inflammation and suppress the immune system. I wonder if this has anything to do with feeling joint pain now. hmm.
