Today's the end of my first week of meds. I'd braced myself for feeling worse but I haven't. Is this a good thing? I'm wondering what it means that I haven't been feeling worse.

I have had the worst headache trouble earlier this week, but it started before I began the meds.

I just made a post about how I feel. Terrible! But everyone is different and probably the response to different antibiotics is too.

What are you taking? I'm on rifabutin.

I started at 1/2 dose of doxycycline for two days, then went to full dose on day 3 (I know probably too soon)...and I had trouble sleeping that night, and pretty much ever since. My back pain has increased as well. It's hard to know if it's a herx or if it's side effects of the medication. I am now on day 13 and went back to half dose this morning. So, I'll see if I can sleep a bit better, and if the back pain improves.
Symptoms started Sept, 2013 (maybe sooner?) Started Buhner's protocol May 15, 2014
Igenex positive July 3, 2014
Doxycyline started July 4, 2014

Determined to beat this!!!

I'm on septra, minocycline, & cefdinir. My plan says to take them twice per day on M, W, & F. Maybe this is a super slow plan & that's why I'm feeling OK.

I do still have a 24/7 headache.
2/09 had bullseye rash from tick bite in NC
1/14 went to LLMD
2/14 beginning treatment
Eager to feel well soon!

For me taking 200mg of Doxy a day is like eating candy. It did/does nothing to me at all. I am on a good probiotic though. It wasn’t until I stated taking Ceftin that I ran into issues. That stuff was bad news for me. Now I am on Trimethoprim I think it’s called. Still taking the Doxy too. I think it might actually be working because I feel a bit better. I had hallucinations the other night which I am hoping was a Herx and not just me going crazy finally!
10/13- DX Fibromyalgia
12/13- Brain MRI shows lesion
1/14 Lumbar Puncture normal
2/14 DX Optic Neuritis
2/14 Erythromelalgia
2/14 IgeneX pos for Lyme
3/14 LabCorp pos for Mycoplasma

Currently on doxy and cefuroxime

I felt worse before I started feeling better. Now I am in my 8th month of treatment and I feel better all the time but still get some symptoms here and there.

Good luck with your treatment.

I honestly thought I was dying after my first week. I had a migraine the first day and threw up. Towards the end of the first week I was in the bathroom every hour and anxiety out of my mind.

After two weeks I called my LLMD and told her I understood you get worse before better and with all due respect... But I think my doses need to be lightened as I'm 5'2 105 (thanks to no gluten ugh nothing fits me anymore!!). She agreed and once I started back up it was more bearable and I had brain clarity. Right now I'm waiting on igenex results to further confirm my treatment plan.

Wow. That's tough. I'm glad your doses are lighter now.

Your meds sound close to what I'm taking. Are you seeing an LLMD in DC, by chance?

I know what you mean about going GF! I'm 5'4" and 109. I've watched any muscle mass I had dwindle over the last 3 months.

MamaV-Yes, I felt like a quitter asking for a lighter dose but everyone I had spoken to on this forum and those I met through FB groups told me they couldn't believe that dose with my frame and just starting out. I am not seeing a LLMD from DC but a practitioner that is from there. Feel free to email me if you'd like!

Oh man you are on the same page as me with the weight thing then. :( As if this disease wasn't robbing us everything else weight too and I know for me I don't enjoy looking like I don't eat anything.
