For respiratory infection? Oregano Oil, Olive Leaf, or plain old Samento?

I've gotten to the point where I need abx for a respiratory infection. I had just started titrating up very gradually on Samento for Lyme.

So here's the thing: Should I stop the Samento and take Oil of Oregano? I also have Olive Leaf extract and homemade garlic oil.

Should I take one, take all of them, or just ramp up my dosage of Samento and Banderol, since I was eventually going to take those anyway?

Samento gives me a pretty massive herx; would the other herbals cause me to herx as well?

open to suggestions.

Margaret

Chances are really pretty good that all those things will bring on a herx - you are too much like me with a body that either has a hard time detoxing (making these things more difficult) or we are really sensitive to it all - either way, we have to be careful and detox daily and well.

With that being said, every time I got bronchitis, I would use oil of oregano and mullein (to open the bronchial passageways) and heal faster than I ever did when I use abx.

So if you are sure you have an actual respiratory infection, I would suggest using oil of oregano - just my 2 cents!

Ok. I think that's a good idea. I'll have to see if there's any stray mullein in the yard. And you're right. I've already started herxing in a big way.

I was stupid though. I looked up Mycoplasma, and a lot of the websites suggested using Houtt., so I took some olive leaf extract, and drank some Houtt. Tea. Oops!

I was just afraid that Oil of Oregano would irritate my intestinal tract, seeing as it's an irritant.

There's a possibility I've been exposed to Mycoplasma, which is why I drank the Houtt. Tea. Apparently it's good for Mycoplasma.

I don't think Mullein is antimicrobial, is it? That means I could use it freely?

Thanks for responding, Margaret

Just be really careful and check to be sure that those things don't interact with anything you are already taking.

So are you saying Houttouynia tea is good for mycoplasma. I've been wondering what to take for mycoplasma. I was going to try to contact Julie Gaina the lady that works with buhner. I just want to make sure I get all these infections. If you know what will get rid of mycoplasma please let me know thanks.

Moon61,

I looked up Buhner's protocol for Mycoplasma, and Houttuynia is one of the herbs he uses to treat Mycoplasma. He uses a number for herbs for Myco. My guess is that he uses it in tincture form, but the tea is a lot cheaper.

I am having an acute episode of what I think is Mycoplasma, and despite Trav.'s warning (sorry Trav), I have continued the Houtt. Tea, and have been taking Olive Leaf, and the fever is already gone, plus the cough is getting better.

I still have a sinus infection though, so I'm going to switch from Olive Leaf to Oregano Oil, and continue the Houtt.--actually it's a blend of Houttuynia and Elecampane Tea.

I'm also doing FAR infrared saunas (which might help you as well), and some other things.

I'll see if I can find the protocol for Myco. and post it.

If anyone else knows what to do for sinus infections, let me know.

Margaret

Margaret, I'm not in your home to see what you are going through, nor am I in your body to make that call - you have to do what you think is best for your own body. My warnings are just that -warnings that I hope the receiver thinks about as they make their decisions is all.

It is about time something works for you teragram! I'm glad you are feeling a bit better.

For strep throat I would do a bit of braggs ACV mixed with honey, a bit of cayenne pepper and sip it every few hours. That is a bit different then a respiratory infection though. Just thought I would post it while I was thinking about it!

Oh, don't worry Trav.,

I was just feeling guilty.

You were absolutely right though. I went to my FNP today, and she said those were all good choices of herbs, but that I should only do one at a time! I guess I knew that, but since I've been one big gob of a germy mess, I got desperate.

She said I could rotate between different antimicrobials. She gave me a handful of astragalus caps, and she said start with the Oil of Oregano.

She also did acupuncture on me, and now I'm breaking out with an itchy rash. It was weird. The acupuncture rapidly cycled me through all my symptoms while I lay there on the table.

She did say she heard lung crackles and that I had a sinus infection. She doesn't know if the whole thing is bronchitis or mycoplasma.

Opu, those are good ideas for a sinus infection, I think. I've heard that horseradish is good.

Thanks, Margaret

What you felt after acupuncture is how homeopathy treatments can feel sometimes too. I've felt it working on my brain several times and that's a strange sensation, but I come out feeling better.

I was having problems with a chronic cough that wouldn't let up. I was given silver in a spray bottle, ACS 200, and it stopped my coughing spell shortly after I took it, much to my surprise. I don't know what the cough was from, but it felt like it was in my bronchial tubes. Docs listened to my lungs, but said they sounded clear, so I was glad to have something help it finally. I have no idea if it would help you or not and you should ask your doctor about taking it if you decide to. Good luck!
