I've seen that there's quite a large list of people who have been curious as to whether or not they may have Lyme disease or not, and have sought various opinions on this forum. Obviously, it is wise to seek out a physician, but because of how unsure I am, and the years of my local physician referring me to various people (all having different answers), I wanted to come here and see what people thought.
For the last 2-3 years in particular (at least from what I remember) I've had a large circular rash on my right thigh, and smaller tiny rashes on my left leg, sometimes on my right. Usually circular, small, and do not itch. They aren't raised or anything, and every single person I've seen has said they are not ringworm. Now, again, I've seen multiple people and have gotten different answers, none attributing the rashes to lyme disease. I used to live in a heavily wooded area in the Northeast and found ticks pretty often. When the rashes started spawning, I thought maybe they were stress induced. I had gained a little bit of weight after my ACL surgery (lacrosse injury), been working a lot in addition to school, and trying to do some personal projects of my own. That, combined with an inability to get a clear diagnosis left me skeptical of what the rash really was, or if it was anything.
In the last year and a half, the rash has not gone away. To me, it has gotten worse. I've read varying sources that say Lyme disease won't always show the bullseye. I've also read varying pieces mentioning joint pain, fatigue, headaches, and back pain, all of which I have had at varying degrees. My throat has also felt swollen or irritated as if food is caught in it, or as if food will get caught when I swallow. The worst of them is usually the back pain when lying in bed or my occasional bouts of shortness of breath. Again, to me, I always knocked it off as being out of shape for the first time in my life since I was a little kid, or stress. Or, maybe it was all in my head—truth is, I was never sure. All I know is that the rash has not gone away, nor have the smaller ones on my left leg.
Of course, what is now throwing me through a loop is the one seemingly consistent symptom: that dreaded bullseye rash.
The rash on my thigh, for the first time, is appearing to resemble a bullseye. It might not be perfect and maybe I do not have Lyme disease, but at this point, I'm a little worried because it's the first time I've noticed it at least resembling something close to the bullseye. It seems like most sources point to it happening earlier in diagnosis. Is it possible that it delayed, or is this something that can occur later? Like anyone, I'm afraid of it being lyme disease but I don't want to dismiss anything at this point. I also, being that money is tight, need to be conscientious of making my visits worth my while as the costs are adding up.
In short, does this rash look like a bullseye or resemble Lyme disease in some form, or am I simply scaring myself for no reason?gyazo.com/bd409ff110a41e7a482ee1d72636cf55
Thanks for your time, and I'll be on the lookout.
P.S: Sorry for typos, apparently today is not my day with the keyboard. And I spelled Lyme as Lime at first. Pretty embarrassing -.-.
