I can't believe this.
I was giving her Cat's Claw for chronic lyme, but I guess I wasn't giving her enough.
Usually ticks don't even attach or get engorged when you're taking something like Cat's Claw.
I had just noticed that her symptoms were coming back.
I checked her fur and skin last night, and found an engorged tick, surrounded by a bright red round rash.
I was absolutely frantic. I feel that it was my fault, because I didn't treat her with a preventative like Frontline, and didn't use the tick collar my other dog wears. Well, Sophie is mildly allergic to Frontline, but still!!! I was under the assumption that the Cat's Claw would prevent reinfection???
This morning, I switched to Cowden's Samento, and fortunately, I found a doggie herbalist in MA who has studied with the Misty Meadows lady. There is no way I can take my dogs to MA, but she does phone consults, so I guess that's the next step.
Meanwhile, off to drugstore to refill the Doxy. I have a sneaking suspicion that she has been infected with Erlichiosis, and goodness what else. The tick bite coincided with conjunctivitis.
Please think about
Sophie for me. I am sad for her.
