Its probably hard to go to a Thanksgiving where you can't eat most of the stuff there anyway right? Its kind of like getting used to being diabetic I guess. I just made bacon and eggs, and made myself extra bacon for Thanksgiving.
My doc thinks I may have had Lyme for over 15 years, since I had been hiking in the woods of Ohio and Pennsylvania as a kid, and the fact that I've
had knee, neck and elbow problems, had my gallbladder removed at age 23, had a bleeding ulcer at 25, and heart issues, along with an atypical bipolar disorder at 15 that resolved itself after a few years.
Then in June of 2012 I was bitten and for sure got it with a really bad bull's eye rash. I didn't know what Lyme was until I saw the doctor that identified
the rash. I took 3 weeks of Doxy and felt okay. Then it kept coming back and getting worse each time, until it was so bad I started doing my
research and realized I had to get to an LLMD. There was killer fatigue that lasted for days at a time, and I had never in my life felt an exhaustion or fatigue that severe. I started on my ABX that
I've been rotating in April of this year, and did 5 weeks of IV Rocephin back in June/July, continued to take oral ABX after that, and had a flare up at the end of August. I had felt so good after the Rocephin I thought I was
basically cured, and was working out 4 days in a row, 3 days off, and didn't realize that could cause my T-cell count to drop too low for too long. I also thought I could eat whatever I wanted, and I had missed a few of my IV
Rocephin's because I had to go out of town on business a few times during that 5 weeks, and continued to work overtime and not get enough rest.
Then a few weeks later, I was bitten by another tick at work, took a 3 week course of doxy that started the day it happened, along with the Zithromax,
Bactrim, and Flagyl I was already taking, but when I stopped I got really, really sick. I couldn't work and my LLMD advised me to leave the job I was
at, because continued tick exposure could be disabling or fatal at this point, and not resting enough was keeping me from getting better. I was
tested, and have an active infection of Anaplasmosis from the new tick bite now. I reluctantly agreed to leave my job, and started resting up and
another 5 week course of IV Rocephin, along with IV glutathione, lymphatic massages, and IV nutritionals this time. I took 2g shots, 3 days a week,
along with Omnicef, Bactrim, and Flagyl, and this week is my 5th week, but since they're closed today and tomorrow, I took my shots M-W. There's
always a little herxing after the shots, mostly just sleepiness and fatigue, which is basically what I'm feeling right now, probably twice as much since
I added in Zithro for the L-forms Rocephin creates a week ago and did the IV 3 days in a row. I hope this is enough this time, my LLMD wants me to
start Minocycline for the Anaplasmosis next week, which is also better than doxy at crossing the blood brain barrier for the Lyme. I'll also be starting
Mepron for Babesia, which also has some action against Lyme, in that it will uncurl the cysts into spirochete form, which the Minocycline is good at
attacking. I'll add in Tindamax for cyst busting in a couple weeks, since I've been on Flagyl for 6 months. So that's short version of my Lyme story,
and I truly believe I'll have a good remission when I'm done with the ABX. The one good thing that came out of this is that I finally decided to go to
take out the loans and go to college, and then to med school to become a psychiatrist. Lyme's getting bad here in Florida, and if I notice signs that
a patient had an underlying Lyme infection, I could refer him to my LLMD, assuming he's still in Orlando in 10 years.
Sorry you had to miss out on Thanksgiving too. Hope you feel better soon.
