just needing to vent a little, not mad, but frustrated; not with anybody, but situations.
so, as I've posted before, my son has been doing herbs since Sept.
I've been glad to have him off antibiotics, although they helped him last winter and spring and am grateful for that; but I'm still glad for the change we made. It was time for that change for him.
Lately he's had a bit of motor tics on and off for over a month (mostly minor, but with some flare days) and I think it's not only lyme triggered, but could also be yeast overgrowth and/or die-off.
Ok, to today, the latest, my frustration:…ear infections! ugh. He has an infection in both ears, double ugh.
so the clinic Dr. has Rx amoxicillin for the ear infections.
For the past 6 weeks, especially, I have been so careful with low sugar, anti-yeast meals, probiotics, kefir, trying to prevent yeast issues, and doing detoxing lots.
I feel like this 10 day Rx of amoxicillin for his ears is going to hurt his gut flora and undo the gains I've painstakingly tried to make, and God-forbid it causing any more ticcing if it contributes to more yeast. (that's my fear; if tics are triggered by yeast.)
I've looked up natural remedies for ear infections and would like to try them, but don't feel confident enough in my knowledge and experience of them. I don't want him to have some bad infection in his ears, but I've heard also that Dr.s overprescribe abx for ear infections.
I asked the dr. if she thought abx were really necessary and she said yes (I thought she would). He did have a fever of 102.8 yesterday and has had a cough for three days, and sneezing.
What am I asking or looking for? I don't know. You know, I'm seriously going to study herbalism and maybe homeopathy(?) b/c I want to be someone who knows good alternatives to these situations.
I'm half tempted to wait a day before starting the abx, and see if the pain starts to go away on its own. but then I feel like a bad mom to do that, and so I'll probably just begin the Rx. Am I exaggerating the effects the abx will have on his possible yeast issue?
