LOL! That would definitely make it easier!! But they actually mean different things. IgM antibodies are the first to be produced, and can show up any time the body is fighting the infection and new antibodies are being produced.
The IgG however is a later response, although I don't know if it's known how long it takes for a body to produce those. I know that Lyme can be considered chronic in as little as 3 weeks for some people who have a very low immune response, but I don't know how that relates to the IgG results.
Just remember, the doc's are not supposed to base treatment on lab tests alone. Even the CDC recognizes this and says that the diagnosis is to be clinical - based on symptoms - with the lab tests hopefully backing up the clinical diagnosis.
