I was on Cowden for Lyme and Co's for the past 2 years but recently stopped to tend to H Pylori. While my Dr wants to do the triple treatment, I at this point will not do it. Can any one share their experience that has used Mastic gum and Manuka Honey for their H pylori. Also can I take Magnesium malate and serraptase while using gum mastic?

It was triple therapy for H. Pylori that led me to believe I have lime. After many treatments for GI issues, antifungals, elimination diets, all the probiotics they make, allergy testing and every other test coming up negative except H. Pylori I did the triple therapy.
I never felt better in my life! I had energy, my libido improved , I wasn't so OCD, my diagnosed IBS was gone and I could eat any of the trigger foods that set it off. I thought I was cured. After about a month the symptoms slowly came back so the GI did an upper and a breath test to rule out H. Pylori, both came up negative. He then said I probably have SIBO so I started Rifaximin, this didn't work so he did a double therapy of rifaxamin and neomycin still no luck. He didn't want to prescribe the same antibiotics for triple therapy because a weak to the day that I stopped I had a sever reaction to them.
I don't think that the antibiotics for SIBO worked because the true problem is intracellular and those particular antibiotics stay in the lumen. Also my main symptoms of IBS is like constipated diarrhea i.e. diarrhea that wont come out even though it sits in there cramping and gurgling all day. Sorry if that is TMI but it is as if the nerves aren't firing right and wont let it come out, once again something more like what lyme would do.
After this I sought out the help of a local MD who is more holistic and I got right back on the merry go round again. you know after all of the antibiotics a probably had yeast so once again probiotics, anitfungals and on and on with no results! So sometimes the advice you get about more probiotics, fiber and etc are pretty much meaningless if the guts can't function properly in the first place. I have also tried all of the alternative stuff for H. Pylori like mastic gum, oils, herbs that had had no effect for me.
I was reading online that H. Pylori and Lyme can cross react so I had to make sure that I didn't have a false positive H. Pylori test when I really have Lyme or maybe both? I ordered the Igenex Lyme test and it showed a few positives, some of them Lyme specific. I had my first LLND appointment last Wednesday. He ordered more tests and started me on a detox protocol, no antibiotics yet so I can't tell you if those have worked. The only natural product that has ever helped my GI issues is bromelain, preferably from eating fresh pineapple but the pills work to if you can't find any, I have even had a pretty severe Herx from it.

Hey @gregkdc - If I had to re-write my story in the last 12 months, it' is exactly, word for word, your story. I am waiting to see an LLND to go ahead with the igenex test to confirm my previous positive LYME diagnosis via ELISA. Can you give me some insight on your progress so far? How are you doing now? Have you pursued any conventional antibiotics... or just an all natural protocol? Any help or feedback would be much appreciated.

Welcome grh!

I do not see greg posting very regularly. However, it looks like he stops in from time to time, so he may see this.

Hi grh, welcome!

When you do the Igenex - be sure to do more than the ELISA. It's best to do the Western Blot IgM and IgG instead of the Elisa.

Thanks for the heads up Missouri.

Girlie - unfortunately our testing for Lyme in Canada is very limited and I told it’s also not very accurate. I beldon’t I’ve the Igenex testing is a lot more comprehensive. Waiting for an apt but it’s extremely frustrating since there are hardly any Lyme specialist in the area.

I'm from BC Canada. There are LLND's in BC, Alberta and also back east.
The ones in BC can prescribe abx.

Email me if you want information.
