I have had dental issues all my life, but fortunately, my gums have always been super healthy. I"m pretty sure that Lyme and company messed with the strength of my enamel on my teeth when I was a child. I've also had a very low pain tolerance in my mouth (but no where else in my body oddly enough). Anyway, please remember that Lyme causes phantom dental pain as well, so the hygienist may not find any damage, only the regular stuff you are used to.
I would encourage you to call your dental hygienist and talk it over with them. You may decide that all you need is a Xanax to help you get through or you may need to have pain meds in your system before you sit down in that chair - or maybe a combination of something.
