Every time I talk to my LLND, I wind up re-evaluating my treatment protocol. I do feel like I'm making good progress with Buhner, but if there's something I could try that might work better then I'd want to give it a try. The first time I went through Lyme treatment, it took me 4 years just to clear Lyme symptoms with a non-ILADS ND. This time, I've made a lot more progress (I think) treating not only Lyme but bartonella and babesia too (and maybe mycoplasma too).
The new thing is a liposomal herb preparation that my LLND learned about from a colleague who visited Dr Klinghardt. She says she's having good results, even with the super sensitive patients. The thing that interests me it that there's been little to no herxing. And I still do herx a bit when I take my herbs. Artemisia is no fun, since even just the 1 capsule can give me a pretty nasty herx sometimes. I think I'm going to ask if there's another source for this ingredient, or even if I could make it myself. But if this is as good as my LLND makes it sound, I think its worth making the attempt to find out if there's a way I could try it.
I do want to wait and see what the new edition of Healing Lyme has to say, since that may change things. Also want to evaluate the issue of heavy metals, since that could also be the issue.
As long as I take all my supplements and herbs, I feel pretty darn good. I do have memory, concentration and organization issues....but not as bad. I am having some new joint issues, but that's more injury related. Sprained my wrist back in September and still having issues. But the new essential oils massage seems to be helping. Its just kinda weird having my hands herx. Getting swollen, tingly and painful. But they're stronger and less numb, and I've only been doing the essential oils for 2 days.
cd3764- Yes, I am still on Chinese Senega. I can only tolerate 2-5 drops twice a day. I was lucky enough to get in touch with Buhner via Facebook. He said I could take that low a dose indefinitely. I can't go higher than that without having major sleep issues. I did ask my LLND about continuing the herbs I'm taking if I do the new thing, and she said that'd be fine.
Mike- This is the ND who used to be in Maine but now moved to Colorado. I really like the dr in Yarmouth, but had some issues with her. I think I really need to go on a road trip out to Colorado at some point, since seeing my LLND in person would probably help. But that'll have to wait until I feel well enough to drive.
I do generally feel better overall than I was last year. Last year, this is when I was slipping into can't speak/write/think mode. Couldn't do more than lie in front of the tv. Now, I can spend an hour or so twice a day feeding the horses, after taking the long way to get there. Then take the long way back (about a 1/8 mile), work on cleaning the house (organizing, vacuuming, dusting, moping), and still have enough energy to fit in a little yoga or other exercise. And then be up to either playing video games or watching tv. Physically, things are a lot better....and I'm getting a little frustrated that my brain isn't quite up to speed.
I think I'm going to:
-ask my LLND about other sources for the ingredient I have an issue with
-do the heavy metal testing
-look at the new Healing Lyme and re-evaluate
-go back to doing more activated charcoal and detox baths (haven't had a detox bath in months)
-possibly consult a LL herbalist
