I would highly, highly encourage you to consult a Lyme-Literate physician. Retinal Dystrophy may be the label given, but Lyme is known to cause blindness or other visual issues.

If the Lyme is the cause of the Retinal Dystrophy (it is known that Lyme can be transmitted to the baby from the mother via the placenta during pregnancy), then using an immune suppressant without treating the infection could potentially make Lyme a whole lot worse.

And it is known Lyme likes to hide in the eyes, because it is difficult to get antibiotics into the eyes via the bloodstream (e.g., from oral antibiotics used to treat Lyme).

Immuno-suppressant drugs are not safe for Lyme. Are you seeing a LLMD? If not, we can help you find one.

Also, ff you haven't yet, it would be helpful for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of important information, symptom lists, helpful links and pdf's, how to detox when one has these infections, information on probiotics and much more.

I had a different eye issue (dryness) and was put on immunosuppressants because the doctors I was seeing thought it was autoimmune. And it got worse on Restasis eye drops and methotrexate. I got a second opinion from my LLND (didn't know she was LL at the time), and that brought up the whole Lyme & coinfections thing. My eyes are now pretty normal, moisture wise, with over a year and a half of herbal treatment for Lyme, babesia and bartonella.
