I had terrible asthma and lung congestion today, and didn't want to go to the ER. I hate ERs.

I got a myofascial massage, and it really helped my lungs.

I warned her that I was really toxic, but I also wanted her to work on my shoulders, and on my elbow, the latter of which is inflamed with tendinitis.

Massage always makes me sick, but it seemed like such a nice option, and my shoulders and lungs do feel better, and I'm not in the ER bc of lung issues.

But I feel soo sick.

What to do? I have been detoxing, so yes, I know, LOL. It isn't working.

I took a Microbinate (my herbal abx), bc I figured that would kill the stuff that the massage evidently released. Should I take another one?

While we're at it, my lungs are really bad right now. Also, I'm hoarse almost all the time. I don't care about the hoarseness, except that it seems to coincide with asthma. And what does it mean when a doctor says "your lung sounds are decreased on the right side?"

We've had some very wet few years (and months) here in NW NC. The winter has been very strange, both warm and wet.

I'm going to downsize to a smaller house, and I've already paid the earnest money (refundable). I'm starting to wonder if I should pull a Mike (one of our members) and move to a drier climate.

All my friends are here though.

Wow, have I digressed!!

I think I'd better change my title.

TG, seeing new LLMD next week, Dr. A. in Columbia, MD.

But worried about traveling with lung problems.

Helpity help?

PS, please realize that if I sound panicky, I am herxing like crazy from the massage. I'm going to do the Epsom salt bath, but I'm particularly wondering about whether I should take another Microbinate, and would that make me better or worse?

Oh, Margaret!

So sorry you're having such a tough time! Are you sure the Epsom bath is a good idea right now? I know it's great for detox but, unless you have a way to get those newly-released toxins out, your herx might worsen.

Have you taken a peek at this site recently?:

www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.html

Re lung issues - have you considered NAC (N-acetyl cysteine)? Buhner recommends 2000mg in the AM and again in the PM.

Here's some info:

www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2010/5/n-acetyl-cysteine/page-02

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2707813/

Hope you feel better soon!

And, please let us know how things go with the new LLMD!!

Hi Teragram!-

Do you have any Alka Seltzer Gold? This helps some people with their herxing.

Maybe take something for inflammation. Maybe after your massage, you stirred up some more inflammation. Maybe a heating pad to soothe your body. (I know that Lyme causes inflammation. I am just wondering if now you have more than usual. )

Hopefully someone knows of herb for inflammation. I am not knowledgeable with all the herbal tinetures.

Best Wishes!

Thanks for the reminder, Little Bear!

Japanese Knotweed is great for inflammation.

Vitamin C is your best friend. It is anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, and an antioxidant. When body work (massage, chiropractic, etc.) stirs up symptoms, Vitamin C can help reduce those symptoms and even prevent them if taken 30-60 minutes prior to the massage/chiropractor.

I would certainly not take more antibiotic herbs, you're already too toxic and killing more bugs will just make that worse. Focus on detox. Might also try some activated charcoal to bind up some of the junk being released so you don't re-absorb it...

Yes i used to get sick after massage, especially when my lymph nodes were inflamed. And sometimes after sauna too!

Lymph is full of toxins and dead bacteria, when you get a massage it helps drain it, which is good on long term but immediately after, your body will be flooded with more toxins than before the massage. It's a very good idea to start your massage by drinking several glasses of lemon water.

Activated charcoal always helped me, i used to take it at night time on empty stomach just before bed. Actually i think it is the only thing that i really felt it helped. Chlorella is good too, Magnesium, Knotweed, Turmeric, Vit C. But for me the charcoal worked wonders. Some of these toxins are reabsorbed in the gut, they are excreted through bile and then unfortunately get back in the bloodstream, so that's where this charcoal comes in and breaks the cycle.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your answers!

The worst part of the massage herx went away, though now I think I'm having an antimicrobials herx, LOL. The massage actually helped me a lot with a very painful elbow (tendinitis) and helped to open up my lungs.

CD, I am very familiar with that site, but am going to look at the others.

LB, you're right. I need to buy some Alka Seltzer Gold. That's a good idea!

Mike, I ordered the Bidens Pilosa, since you suggested it several times, but it's only going to arrive after I'm out of town. I will try Sage Women and Amazon.

Razzle and others, I thought the massage brought the beasties out of hiding, which was my rationale for taking antimicrobials after the massage?

Vit. C sometimes gives me headaches, but that's only when I take it in large quantities.

mpost, do you have massages? I think your suggestions are really good, i.e., start with the lemon water, then take Chlorella, Magnesium, Knotweet, Turmeric, etc.

As for the respiratory stuff, it is still hitting me full blast. I am very congested in my lungs, nose, and throat, and continuously hoarse. I have no clue if it's a bacterial infection, a virus, or just allergies (or plain old unspecified GUNK). It's driving me batty; I'm having to deal with this in addition to a fast heart rate, and diarrhea.

I think it's time to move to a Caribbean Island, where I'll have my own sexy man servants, and will slosh around in warm salty water all day. Meanwhile, I'll live in a spiffy house that's very dry and completely mold free.
