Do you have a specific protocol picked out yet?
As far as how long to detox before you start herbs, as Girlie said, you will be starting the herbs at low levels and you should only increase as you can without herxing badly.
I would agree with Girlie's choices of herbs too.
Keep up the detoxing, and increase it whenever you start to notice any herxing - don't wait.
Don't increase a dosage if you are still herxing.
As for the diverticulitis/diverticulosis - remember the one with "itis" at the end is an actual infection. That's pretty painful for me the whole time I had it.
"osis" at the end means a condition that needs to be monitored. At first I did have frequent attacks. I was careful to avoid all nuts and seeds for a while (especially tomato & cucumber seeds and from other foods too), and to take extra time to really chew my food well. The more practice I had, the better I got at not only avoiding those seeds, but in understanding what my body needed me to be careful with.
Any time I had a bad attack though, I would "put myself in bed" for 3 days and my diet would consist of things like eggs, toast, and any other soft foods that I knew wouldn't make matters worse. I also pretty much lived with a heating pad on my belly to ease those pains during that 3 days of being in bed. I've not had to go back to the doctors for this since learning that, which is good since I don't trust any of the doctors in my area.
