Chapelle - you mentioned Florastor. I have not tried this one. Can this one be takien with other probiotics during the day?
I have been using my ozone sauna to help purge heavy metals and help rid of candida and fungus, too.

yup, you can take florastor with other probiotics. I just learned this recently myself! The best time to take probiotics is right before bed, but I can't do that bc every time I try I wake up with an upset stomach. So I just take my probiotics during the day at some point as long as they are 2 hrs away from my other herbs and supplements.

Need high-dose Biotin to keep the Candida in a more killable form, otherwise it will go into spore form and be way more difficult to get rid of.

Also, Molybdenum helps with detoxing from Candida die-off. When Candida dies, it gives off aldehydes. The enzyme in the body that processes (detoxes) aldehydes requires Molybdenum to function correctly.

Be careful with Florastor/S. Boulardii probiotics if you are allergic to brewer's or baker's yeast...

afilya4health- you are right lyme has many almost every symptom-metals have a lot also,

Find a doc that test for metals-my guess is that you have high heavy metals. I have a handful of friends with chronic lyme-they all were extremely high in heavy metals. Which easily may be the reason they got lyme in the first place and why they cant get rid of lyme in the second.

If you g back to the lyme summit talks by various lyme docs you can read a lot about fixing what you can on your body to strengthen it. Several docs mentioned heavy metals-one mentioned root canals ( I believe he said he cures 85% of chronic lyme when they have root canals) several mentioned parasites.

Strengthen the body by treating the above list and more-there are reasons people get chronic lyme and others don't. not just tick

thanks razzle!! now that makes complete sense. I have a bad candida issue, and this explains why I couldn't handle biotin in the past when I tried to take it for the purpose of helping my skin/nails and hair - guess it was a herx and I didn't know it. Wow. This is great insight. What dose would you say is good for this purpose?

I just did quick research on molybdenum - never heard of it! Although I am not noticing any die off symptoms, I am going to add it to my regimen anyway!!

Thanks so much!!

I was told to take 8000mcg Biotin 3x/day, but you may need a different amount. If you know how to muscle test yourself, or know someone who can muscle test you, then you can find the dose that is right for you.

I've been taking 5000 Biotin a day for a year. Here's a good article about methylation and candida issues...

Chapelle, how much oregano oil per day do you take? My husband chews black seeds - this dude at the health food store told him that in his country Dr.s tell their patients to chew those seeds when an ailment comes up! So interesting, right.

I have battled this too. I have often wondered if some of my lyme & co symptoms were actually candida - they can be very similar. I once thought I was having Bart symptoms and started abx for bart only to realize that the symptoms never went away. So I stopped and began treating for candida, and low and behold, the symptoms slowly dissipated and then went away completely.

Here are some things that I have found that personally worked on my candida -some of these I have not seen mentioned yet:
Monolaurin
Coconut oil
Houttuynia ( I believe there are research papers on this one for yeast)
Artemisinin
Oregano oil

I agree that rotating works best, and make sure to detox the die-off just as you would for lyme & co. And herbs like oregano oil really pack a punch and can kill good bacteria just like abx. Important to follow with probiotics 2 hours after.

Sorry, forgot to add Undecylenic acid (SF722) to my list. It is a man-made derivative from castor oil and some believe it is more potent than caprylic acid (coconut oil).

wow, thanks for your input lymie mom! We did already mention monolaurin, and I mentioned oil of oregano (ADP is the BEST!) as well as coconut oil.

did you beat candida, if yes, how long did it take?

Hi Chapelle-

I had beat it down pretty good at one time, but unfortunately I believe it is trying to make a comeback.

I have come to the conclusion that diet is 80% of the battle, if not more. I was hoping I could get away with cheating on the diet a little bit as long as I took enough anti-fungals. Not the case AT ALL , lol.

I was having horrific cystic acne all over my cheeks, chin, jawline, neck, and shoulders. At first I thought it was hormonal, then dairy, then soft water, then food intolerances. I just couldn't get it to stop.

I then slowly began to remove some supplements. I was shocked to discover that the removal of Ashwagandha made an incredible difference. I had been on it about a year and felt the benefits from it, but the acne didn't start until about 5 months ago. I believe it was my body's way of indicating that I no longer needed it. Stopped it cold turkey.

The second thing that actually brought the acne to a complete halt was the total elimination of all grains including corn and rice. Whether it was a direct reaction to grains, or the grains contributing to a yeast problem, I may never know. Don't really care, I am completely grain free if it means it will no longer be scarring my face!

I have started juicing again -mostly veggies and a small amount of fruit. I feel good when I do this but I wonder if this could contribute to yeast as well. I read that juicing removes the fiber content and basically leaves the sugar for consumption. Seems counter-productive?

omg, wow! yeah, i am battling candida for sure, and I am struggling being strict about the diet. it is so darn hard! I dont have any big symptoms really anymore, so it is easier to cheat, but I am afraid it will come back again if I don't adhere to it!

I chew the seeds as well. I start with 2g on day 1, 4g on day 2, and 6g for several more days. This limits my herxing. Very effective on whatever I'm treating, but it tastes bad like oregano.

To Chapelle:
No, it wasn't that. It was some weird thing that was supposed to be "the safest thing for my liver". Ugh I don't think i'm ever going back to that doctor. Idk what they don't understand when i say "I don't care about my liver, just cure me/get me well!!!" My parents say obviously i'm wrong and i shoudnt think like that but...i'm right. I took the stupid medication and lo and behold I still have candida!! (Yes on a relatively strict diet for the duration of taking that medication and antifungals and probiotics).
Chapelle, I believe seeing posts from you abut candida a year or 2 back. Are you still suffering from it??

To Razzle:
I didn't even know Candida could shift forms??! Is Biotin prescription based?

magoo2:
"lyme has many almost every symptom-metals have a lot also"
Okay so i looked up on 2 sites the symptoms of heavy metals and 1 site said:fatigue, digestive distress, aching joints, depression, impaired blood sugar, female reproductive problems. Another site said: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, central nervous system, heart problems, anemia.

Almost half of these symptoms aren't directly correlated with Lyme (ex. I've never had vomiting as symptom of Lyme) and the other half are pretty vague. I'm not gonna bring up heavy metals again on this post (and i will probably post another question on the message boards directly about heavy metals) but i think i'm gonna have to start asking people to provide where they're getting their info or source.
The only symptom I see that correlates meaningfully with Lyme is aching joints which I'm not experiencing anymore. CNS and heart problems are expected from heavy metal toxicity because they are toxins. It would be comparable to saying drinking alcohol too much could cause CNS and heart problems. Alcohol is a toxin.

It's no disrespect to you magoo2, especially since i asked about it to another user on this post, and have asked and researched symptoms before not understanding why people on lyme boards keep recommending it. But the vague answers just kill me.

yup, still have it. I believe i had candida BEFORE lyme, and so my symptoms only got worse after taking antibiotics for 8 months. Although my Dr had me on diflucan and nystatin during treatment, once i stopped the antifungals after I stopped the antibiotics, it came back. My diet didn't help. I am going in for magnetic therapy in 3 weeks (I will explain about that in a new post when the time comes around), which should help. I have been actively treating Candida rigorously only since January, and I haven't been strict enough on my diet, so it will take some more time. But I do know I am getting it under control bc I have no symptoms at the moment.

Biotin is a nutritional supplement available over-the-counter in health food stores or from online supplement sellers (such as Vitacost or iHerb) - it is one of the B-Complex vitamins.

astroman -

I agree with your entire post--whole heartedly. Many good points.

Regarding the previous mention of heavy metals and your comment... I had MANY amalgams in my teeth - in all of my back 8 teeth upper/lowers. I had all of them removed except for those in 2 teeth about 4 yrs ago and not by a "bio" dentist (I wasn't aware of the issues at the time) and I think I suffered some leeching into tissues despite repeated negative hvy mtls testing.

When I tried to detox using chlorella--I nearly killed myself. I learned quickly that if you don't know what you're doing, you are likely to leach mtls out of tissues, fail to detox them efficiently and they will be reabsorbed. So now I'm pretty sure that has contributed to my y/f challenges but I'm not in a healthy enough state for mtls detox... not yet anyway.

I found this old post while looking for a specific post on d-limonene. Gosh! There is so much amazing info in this post, and it's got me thinking about Candida and heavy metals.

So far, I've had no antibodies to Candida and no signs of it, as is thrush or vaginal yeast infections, etc. I have never been on long term abx, only short term many times over 48 years. Two 7 day Rx in the past 2 years a year apart. Been on high dose probiotics for 2.5 years with no noticeable effects good or bad.

Clues to Possible Candida:
- one Sacchromyces boulardii capsule caused nausea and dizzyness
- have craved sweets for past 3 years when I never had before
- two months ago after 1 month of Candicid Forte, I had diarrhea and vomiting and seaweed looking stuff came out; 4 days later had diarrhea again and got relief from IBS-C and moved bowels without magnesium for 1st time in 2.5 years; ate what I wanted for 2 weeks and abdominal pain started back and had to get back on magnesium; got back on Candicid Forte
- have had increased joint pain/stiffness for weeks
- cannot seem to stick to a clean diet
- have 14 amalgams that are scheduled to be replaced on 12 June and 14 July

I've been on Pectasol-C for over a year. I'm wondering if it is pulling metals out of tissues or joints and could also be causing a Candida issue as a result.

I finished one bottle of d-limonene taken daily. Been out a couple of days and have reordered. Can't say for sure if it helped anything specific. However. in the last couple days since I ran out, I've had feelings like hot flashes and had sweating. Also woke up with burning, itchy palms night before last. Not sure what that is. Don't remember having that symptom before.

There's another thread (/www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=30&m=3586141) where Georgia Hunter said this:

Just wanted to update this thread with my experience thus far on the D-Limonine: I can say I'm definitely sleeping much better. All through the night unless nature calls. Hot flashes are reduced 90% as well if that's related somehow. But either way, my sleep pattern was miserable before this product and nothing else has changed so credit to the D-limonene! Thank you for posting this thread, astroman. I did order the Jarrow brand fwiw.

To me, this would indicate that you had an elevation in intraluminal aluminum and the D-Limonene helped eliminate it. I would extrapolate that farther and say a bacteria was sequestering the aluminum and H pylori is often the culprit.

Hot flashes can occur from the exothermic reaction of nitrogen breakdown. Too much nitrogen breakdown can lead to higher temperatures than normal. High nitrogen ingestion, which most often comes in the form of animal protein, will increase bacteria like Bilophilia which decrease good yeasts like Saccharomyces. A balance must be maintained between good yeasts and the other bacteria present because the yeasts increase the fermentation of carbohydrates. This not only helps to eliminate carbohydrates but also decreases sulfite levels in the body by converting them to sulfides. Flatulence is hydrogen sulfide gas and comes from the action of the yeasts. Too many sulfites kill the yeasts and they need to be replenished. My belief is that people with Lyme have a decrease in good yeasts from a combination of too many sulfites and too many antibiotics. Antibiotics lead to an increase in Candida and other unwanted yeasts which overgrow the beneficial yeasts. Florastor is a good option to replenish the good yeasts.

Now that I've said all this, I don't remember what I wanted ti ask.

Any comments on what I said in relation to Candida, heavy metals, hot flashes, joint pain, or burning itchy palms?

Sorry to sound like a broken record on this, but I did not have any positive tests for candida. Therefore, the doctors overlooked a yeast issue for me.
Turns out I still had a systemic chronic yeast infection - but a non-candida strain (saccharomyces cerevisiae). Took me a LONG time to figure that out and finally get them to test (and confirm) my suspicions!

I always mention this on yeast/candida threads that people focus on candida. But there are non-candida strains that are very much overlooked and missed by doctors. sad Just because a person is negative for candida, it doesn't rule out a yeast problem...

Also, be careful on s. boulardii - as that can actually cause or make a yeast infection worse depending on the strain. S. boulardii is being over used nowadays without the proper warning of taking it (unfortunately). It has it's time and place, but it's not nearly as safe as it's being promoted. sad

Thanks, 1000Daisies. I remember. Good that you point this out. In my case, I suspect the S. Boulardii killed Candida and the toxic reaction I had was either to Candida die-off or to heavy metals disbursed due to Candida dying.

Daisies - when I look at my S. boulardii bottle I think of you...and I only take it once in awhile now...maybe once capsule twice a week...definitely not daily...I do not want to get into that!!!!
BTW - how did you treat it?

"I've been on Pectasol-C for over a year. I'm wondering if it is pulling metals out of tissues or joints and could also be causing a Candida issue as a result."

You could also be pulling the mercury from your amalgams - (especially if some aren't stable) and distributing into your system.

I have some amalgams, too...and I just don't know if I should be taking the binders because of that.

I don't have 14...but 6 is still plenty.

I did have one removed/replace that had chipped last year...as well as a smaller one next to that tooth.
I took activated charcoal prior (tried to coat my throat) and then for several days after...to absorb what was in my GI tract.
Regular dentist did the work...I can't afford to go to the Biological Dentist. It would mean traveling and three separate appointments.....

Before you do probiotics use raw garlic and lauricidin this works wonderfully then do the spit test once you pass then load the probiotics up.
