I don't know if it was a rumor that Michael J. Fox had/has it - I think this was prior to his Parkinson's Disease diagnosis.

Girlie I found an article on National Examiner's (a tabloid) that said he had lyme disease pre- parkinson's disease, but I cannot find anything else. There was a video of Michael Fox on the Letterman show where someone said they saw the show and Michael said he had lyme. I can't find that video either. circa 1997.

Wiki on him does not mention lyme at all.

I think he is pushing it under the rug because he is fighting so hard for Parkinson's funding at Congressional level.

If there was a chance that it was lyme boy of boy would that mess up the apple cart.

Allie Hilfigger, she wrote about her experience in a new book called Bite Me. It's a really interesting story. Apparently she was in a psych hospital her Lyme was so bad. (You know Tommy's daughter. Haha)

People are getting tested now......Lyme does not discriminate.

I wonder if other celebs past and present that are fighting these horrible illnesses should get tested...Micheal J fox....just one example,I think he has lived in the Northeast for many years?

Not drawing any conclusions, however,I watched my Grandfather fade away in a nursing home from Parkinsons many years ago........and I know EVERYTHING can't be Lyme.....however some of it is.

So many here are fortunate to have information, imagine being back to square one and "not knowing".

I'm sick and still feel lucky to have found out....

Very interesting...

There was an American Warrior competitor ---- can't think of his name --- the obstacle course competition thing...

I remember seeing an interview m. J. Fox did when he spoke about having Lyme so it was public knowledge - not a rumor. But I think you're absolutely right PeteZa that he has a lot at stake w/ his Parkinson's advocacy.

I listened to a podcast on lyme ninja the other day interviwing ceo of flourish partners (they hope to develop OTC urine test for lyme by next year for under $50). Anyway, she said Michael J Fox is testing positive for lyme.

Also, a former real housewife of NJ, Amber Marchese, just came out with a current lyme case. She has breast cancer too and sounds like her doctor is advising her to wait and retest. Crazy. So she'll be another chronic victim to add to list soon.

Yea, I think the stat that as many as 1 in 15 people have the lyme bacteria is enough to officially consider lyme a non-rare illness.

My mother got it 2 years ago and is now symptom free. I have it and my sister and nephew have it.

You can add professional golfer Jason Day... well maybe... his doctors don't know (surprise!)

The following is from www.pgatour.com/news/2010/08/27/day-transcript.html

Q. How is your health??

JASON DAY: Health is okay. I'm starting to feel a lot better. Over the a last -- I jumped off, went and saw the ENT. He said I don't have to have surgery. He goes you might have Mono instead of -- I've seen like eight doctors. Can't get a straight answer.

But, yeah, so apparently he goes I think you've got Mono. So I tested positive two out of the four panels for Mono. So I don't know if that determines that I have like a minute case of Mono. But we'll see. I've been feeling pretty good. I jumped off the antibiotics finally after about three and a half months of that course. And then everything is turning around, which is nice.

Q. So you have Mono or you don't??

JASON DAY: I don't know. I couldn't tell you. I don't think he could have told me. So it's still up in the air. What's going to happen is that I'm most likely going to have to miss the HSBC and Australian Masters and Australian tournaments just due to I need to rest and try and get on top of this health thing, because I can't keep playing the way it has been.

Q. You don't know if you have -- you might have lyme disease, you just don't know??

JASON DAY: I don't know. I really don't know. I've talked to my agent. He wants me to see someone this Monday but it's very unlikely that I'm going to go and see someone. So I'm going to wait until after the FedEx and try and get this sorted.

Q. How does it manifest itself? Do you lose energy or anything?

JASON DAY: Yeah, well, most of the guys that have been with me the whole year have known that I'll get really tired, real weak and shaky out on the course. And I just really can't do much at all.

Normally I'll be going to the gym twice a week when I'm playing. And then I'll be going to maybe five, six times during my off week. And just really I couldn't do any practice last week, and I just came and not prepared at all for this tournament.

I'm just really kind of excited that I'm on top of the leaderboard right now with really poor preparation coming to the event.

Q. Is that pretty much how you handled it, just rest, just inactivity??

JASON DAY: Yeah, pretty much. Just when I'm at home I just do nothing. I can't really do anything. I just sleep a lot and that's about it. My wife takes care of me, which is good. So she's a good wife.
