Hi guys,

So i just started abx. My doctor changed his mind and started me on doxy 2xs a day for 60 days. I read the tips in the getting started thread for doxy.

I had severe nausea and diarrhea for about an hour after taking it and then that went away and I was feeling good. I've been detoxing for about a week before starting the abx that included Epson salt bath everyday.

I just got out of my first epsom salt bath after starting abx and I am really nauseous. This hasn't happened with the previous baths. Any thoughts?

I have never had nausea from epsom salt although I think that it can cause diarrhea. This will bump your post for more views!

I could not handle the heat from a bath or a shower. You might want to try cooler water? Or just go with a foot bath.

I was going to ask about the temp of the water as well. Too warm of a bath will raise your body temp causing more bacteria to die, which is good, but it also increases the herx from it, it seems. I can't use the detox full body soak as it moves too many toxins all at once for my body to detox out.

Start with lowering your water temp to just about skin temp. If you still get nauseous, then it's likely that nausea is one of your herx symptoms.

You can also try "sandwiching" your meds - eat enough to be substantial protection for your stomach, then take your meds, then eat about the same amount. This can be half a sandwich or half a meal at a time before and after you swallow your meds.

The detox bath is just like any other detox - you do it too intensely, you'll herx. I would faint or feel nauseated during hot showers and after jumping into a hot tub. It's a release of toxins too quickly for your body to eliminate.

Baths have several components to them that you can play around with to achieve different detox levels:
- duration
- heat
- amount of water
- frequency
- type, volume and numbers of ingredients (start with a small amount of one ingredient and titrate up, adding more)

My Kid#2 can not, and still can not, tolerate Epsom salt baths. This is contrary to Kid#1 who has actually done them for several years (and seeks them out, as he finds them calming). Kid#3 seems okay with them. As for me, I don't really notice much (good or bad) when I take them - other than I get a break. ; )

I should clarify that we take Epsom salt with hydrogen peroxide baths personally. I will occasionally add in some essential oils, but that's rather infrequent (like if Kid#1 is starting to herx).
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, improved now but not fully well
Kid#2: Very sick now despite being treated for years
Kid#3: Doing very well (ironically had the least and shortest treatment)
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids) - not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue issues

You might have a CBS mutation or AHCY polymorphismas thus having problem with sulfur.

read this 2 and see if it makes sense to you:

Sometimes ABX will kill the bacteria that keeping the balance in the body and something that didn't bother you before can bother you now.

What type of essential oils do you use?

I'm probably not the best person to ask, as I have a variety of essential oils that I use. It'll vary based on my mood on what I think may be helpful. :) I generally will use an anti-bacterial blend and/or something that smells nice too, etc. I mix with the Epsom salts first, and then I put in the water.
