"if it is true than means that people with positive could also have something else instead of lyme. No?? "
No, with a positive test, or if you have any "Lyme specific" bands, then you have Lyme disease.
The reason the testing isn't reliable is because it misses many of those people that actually do have Lyme. I had to be in treatment for a full year before I tested fully CDC positive. The ELISA will miss up to 70% of those that actually have Lyme, and the Western Blot will miss up to 50% of those that actually have Lyme disease.
Lyme lowers the ability of the immune system to function, and those tests all use antibodies that the immune system should be producing, but because the immune function is lowered, it can't. The other methods of testing that are commonly used also have "issues", as it takes very few bacteria to can cause a lot of illness.
I would have to respectfully disagree with your doctor on herbals - it only shows that he doesn't understand the herbs. Abx failed me after trying to use them for a year and I had to turn to herbs to heal - and I did. I had been infected for at least 40 years and healed with herb only treatments in 2 years, and it had been determined that I had contracted all of the tick-borne infections during those years.
The only way to possibly rid the body of the spirochetes is to treat in the first few days/weeks of the initial infection - which many people miss for one reason or another.
No matter what modality (form of medicine) is used, it's all pretty much trial and error because of the lack of studies to help guide us.
Yes, each treatment, no matter what is used to treat, needs to be tailored for the patient, but there are minimums that we need.
As for what kind of doctor, it's most important in my opinion to find a knowledgeable doctor more than what they 'specialize' in, as long as they are Lyme literate.
