There is no reason to get retested as the tests are not designed for this. They are really not designed for diagnosing these infections either, but that's another subject.
Once we have the Lyme bacteria in our bodies, we will (hopefully) always test positive for Lyme. Why do I say hopefully? Because that means that the immune system is keeping it under control by killing off the bacteria and producing antibodies - which the tests are designed to look for.
So, the only reason to be retested is to see if your immune function is up high enough to show antibodies are being produced, not to determine if you still have the infection. Unless the Lyme infection is caught within the first couple of weeks of infection starting, there is no way to rid the body of the bacteria - and no test that will determine that even if all the bacteria are gone, since having no antibodies being produced does not rule out an infection.
