I followed the full Cowden protocol for almost 6 months and wasn't able to follow the schedule for increases, either.
I titrated as best able and then started following the schedule when I was up to the recommended doses. I did the same when it was time to start a new herb. This is really how things should be done with any herbal protocol - you increase up to the point of herxing and then go back to the dose that didn't cause the herx.
Herbs have synergy - they enhance the actions of each other. Healing still happens at low doses...doses your body can handle.
While Cowden has a published schedule, using herbs successfully means listening to your body and adjusting things to keep it happy.
Without a doubt, you could continue with Pinella and Burber every 10 minutes for longer than 2 doses. I can't remember the specifics of Cowden's recommendations but I have this memory of taking the combo every 2 minutes for up to 2 hrs.
I hope you're doing other things for detoxing besides Pinella and Burbur. The more things you do for detoxing on a daily basis, the better you'll be able to handle your treatments.
