Yes. The pain has calmed once stopping tinidazole. Once I start back up I will keep note of symptom flares. Please let us know how your body reacts to it. For me it's hard to handle but I'll be back on soon.

Could someone please give me more information about tinidazole?
How many times and how much do you take?
Also, which other abx do you take - (I ask because of possible interactions)

Blueberry:

I checked my bottle - for some reason I had mine 'made' at a compounding pharmacy...maybe in Canada that's the only way you can get it.

500 mg twice daily.

i was prescribed it with Ceftin. I will be taking it with Rifampin and biaxin or mino.

Girlie - I really think your shoulder pain is a lyme/biofilm colony. I had similar issues with my neck and left scapula area. I am finally finding some relief. My LLMD says tinidozole breaks up biofilm. He says it is part of the European protocol that i am on.

Have you tried rubbing Frankincense essential oil into your painful shoulder? My Naturopath swears frankincense also kills Lyme...I rub it on my elbows and wrists every night....

Thanks, cr3ativegirl. I think I'm going to start taking my serrapeptase again for biofilms. That along with tinidazole will hopefully have it covered.

Thank you.
I am sorry if I am hijacking your thread, but I relate myself to your question and that's because I didn't start a new one.
And what do you think about taking it every day but for a shorter period - not pulsing?
I have severe vertigo and my pharmacist told me that can be side effect of Minocycline, as it was not my Lyme symptom, it is my new symptom. He told me maybe it would be good to stop it.
I thought about changing my abx combo.
So, I think about taking Clindamycin and introduce Flagyl for 10 days to see if my vertigo will be gone (because I would stop Mino) and to destroy some cyst forms.
I wanted to ask my LLMD about this, but I had some family problems and at the moment I don't have financial resources to afford an appointment.

How long were you on mino? When I started it, my LLND had me start at half dose 100 mg once daily instead of twice - I was kind of dizzy at first...then it settled down and I increased to the full dose of 100 mg twice daily.

So, did you start it low...and give it a week or two? (the mino)

I think the reason it affects our 'heads' is because of it's a good blood/brain barrier penetrator.
That is actually why I wanted it - I had pressure in my head behind my eyes, and I was off-balance.
After a while on the mino, those symptoms were greatly reduced...and slowly faded away.

So, you are thinking of Flagyl instead of tinidazole? Don't do both.

I will be pulsing it - for a few reasons - one being that pulsing also works on cyst busting....and long-term use of Flagyl and Tinidazole can cause peripheral neuropathy.

I am on Mino for 3 months.
I started it low and now I take 2x100mg.
Would it be good idea to change Mino for Doxy, as they are in the same family? Or Doxy is just for early Lyme?
I have neuro symptoms but if Mino is making this vertigo I think maybe I should stop it. I feel very bad because of it.
These horibble vertigos started one month ago, I was two months on Mino and I felt vertigo sometimes, now and then, but not like this. This vertigo is debilitating, it is very strong.

I thought about Flagyl or Tinidazole for busting cyst forms - not both at the same time.

So, the vertigo started after you started mino...and got worse with the increase?

....or did you have some vertigo before mino.
If so, you could be herxing if it's making what you already had ..worse.

How long did you stay on the half dose before increasing?

Actually, this vertigo started when I started abx (both Clindamycin and Minocycline at the same time).
I started Mino low dose for the first week, as my LLMD told me. I worked it up to the full dose.
Increase of the dose was not connected with the increase of vertigo.
I take both abx for 3 months and one month ago my vertigo worsen.

I am on 250 mg Tinidazole every other day. I stopped it for two weeks recently to see if it was contributing to my neuropathy. My neuropathy is better not on it. I've been in it since Feburary with the Minocycline 250 on alternate days. Heading to LLMD on Wed and will report back!

Girlie- I think the serrapeptase is a good idea. I take mine at 3 am cuz I always wake up at that time. If you don't want to take tinidiazole, supposedly Cats Claw is also good for breaking up biofilms.

BBM - vertigo stinks! Hope you figure it out.

Thanks cr3ativegirl.

So I will start taking the Serrapeptase for the bio films.
But it's not known to work on the cysts, but since I am going to tske Tini for Babesia (add to Artemisinin), it can be my cyst buster as well.

Sounds like a plan.

Thanks everyone for helping sort this out!!

This thread doesn't need bumping with 36 replies but I just wanted to chime in and say how helpful these types of threads are. I wish there were more like it on HW. Sharing info on different ABX and our successes and failures using them over time is really the best way for us to make some collective progress as it pools the resources and knowledge of various LLMD's in one place and gives us some basis for establishing our own protocols. This is what this site should be all about. The more we share our drug combos and honest experiences using them, the more everyone benefits. There are more people who sit on the sidelines trying to learn without ever posting and we are helping them as well. Let's keep it up and keep sharing our progress for the good of all lymies.

Ivermectin
Moxidectin
daily Epsom Salt showers in a 5 gallon bucket with USB shower head (so that the parasites don't get out into my skin, lay eggs, and then dive back in, or if there is a spider/bug bite/horsefly bite [non-tick] it doesn't have a chance to get in )
and Alinia

is my GO TO for antiparasite
When it stops working, I want to try DEC "Diethylcarbamazine" in the article posted above because the method of action is so dramatically different then the others I think it should do a kills shot. Depending on what my LLND says and their prescription. They give me the script, I fill it on my own.

Also I take my prescriptions, find out which ones I can use for my farm, then I buy 2-3 years worth and store them in a refrigerator in an office building on my farm. I have dual use for these, outside of that, for laboratory research and animal use. At this time, there is no credential requirement to be a farmer or researcher in plant biology. Should you wake up one day and decide you want to be a farmer, you can declare yourself so.

That's not for Babesia though, right?

No. I don't think so. I only took the IgeneX test and the fraudulent LabCorp test, both returned negative. I have no idea what exactly I am fighting. My doctors ordered me several tests, from all the companies you guys mention here they look similar but I have been in financial duress and unable to afford them

sorry I don't know if this is good for Babesia

I was asking if you were taking those for Babesia...because it may not be enough. ie Often Mepron/malarone is needed.

I took 5 days of Alinia recently and it wasn't too harsh. I tolerated it well..in fact I felt quite good on it.

But, it followed a week of persisters and bart treatment....so can't be sure .

Girlie, we seem to have similar symptoms with neck, back shoulder pain? I started Tinidazole after a month of Biaxin and the first week I was in loads of pain. My C1,2 vertebrae felt like they were fractured along with pain in my skull. It was hard to continue so im now taking Doxy. As soon as I clean up my diet/immune regiment, Ill be back on Tinidazole.

My left shoulder blade area has been by far the worst symptom. If it got better, I would be ecstatic...I would be able to go back to work...despite my other symptoms.

That neck pain sounds horrible - I only get neck pain now and then lately...

After you stopped the Tinidazole, did those symptoms calm down soon after?

Hi Girlie:

Have you tried Magnesium spray on your shoulder? I had no idea how well it works for these situations until someone in the family started using it. Even if you already take magnesium supplements, spraying it directly into the affected area does wonders.

Please take a moment to read the comments in one of Amazon's Magnesium spray reviews. It may be just what you need to get that shoulder working again.

I read through this but couldn't find an answer - does tinidazole work for babesia?

Ive been prescribed it as part of a CPn protocol, but just one days dose elevated my liver enzymes. Not massively, and i had a tonsilitis infection at the time which could contributed, but its still a worry. I think Flagyl at least is hepatotoxic, so tinidazole could also be.

Even if it’s nerve pain (not muscular)?
