Sorry to hear of your frustration, Naturegirl!
After dealing with these infections for almost 3 years now and researching like crazy, it's my understanding that the health of the immune system is what makes the difference between those who are asymptomatically infected.....and those who are infected and dealing with symptoms - mild, severe or somewhere in between.
Dr. Bill Rawls healed himself from Lyme using Buhner's recommended herbs along with lifestyle changes. He recently released a book (Jan 2017) called "Unlocking Lyme". His writings really hit home for me.
He explains how herbs are very well-suited for treating these infections since the bugs are in low concentrations in the body. He also explains how herbs can help with healing.
Inflammation is what causes our symptoms. By disrupting our immune system, the bugs are able to cause that inflammation - this helps them scavenge nutrients.
We need to do things to reduce inflammation and heal the body. We also need to remodulate the immune system. There are many references to Buhner's research, writing and protocols that address these aspects of healing in "Unlocking Lyme".
In addition, Dr. Rawls writes about
7 categories of "system disruptors":
Artificial energy sources (computers and cell phones)
Free radical damage to tissues
Excessive or unnatural physical stress
Dr. Rawls firmly believes that restorative therapy (herbs, supplements, lifestyle changes) will slowly bring healing from Lyme.
Not surprisingly, there's much more to the book.
Here's some general info from Dr. Rawl's site:/rawlsmd.com/health-articles/chronic-immune-dysfunction-lyme-disease
The $2.99 I paid for the Kindle version of "Unlocking Lyme" is the best $2.99 I ever spent. How I wish his book was available when I was first bit by the tick.
Besides my suggestion that you read "Unlocking Lyme", I also suggest that you add some herbs to help with cytokine remodulation/inflammation reduction (Buhner recommends Dan Shen/Red Sage and Chinese Skullcap and they are excellent).
Immune support is something else I suggest - Buhner recommends Cordyceps
Buhner recommends Eleuthero for fatigue and it's a great herb overall.
I take all of the herbs I just listed as well as the herbs you are taking. I also take Sida Acuta to help with twitches and Stephania to help with nerve issues...among the many other benefits both herbs provide. I'd say I'm at 99.6% and am very happy about
And, whether you read the book or not, I suggest you review the list of "system disruptors" and see if you can do anything to minimize them in your life.
Healing will come.
