I just upped my Biaxin dose to the full amount (500 mg twice per day). I'm also on 3000 of amoxicillin. I've noticed that I have a low grade fever the past few days. When I first got lyme/bartonella that was one of my symptoms, but I haven't had it for a while. Can a low grade fever be part of a herx or should I be concerned that it is a med issue?

Definitely. Very common herx. A low grade fever is essentially your body fighting what it believe's are pathogens (Lyme). Herbs/abx assist the body in fighting, thus a low grade fever.
Lyme: Igenex IFA positive and Igenex Westernblot band 31 and 41
Ehrlichia: Positive (Igenex)
Mycoplasma: Positive (Labcorp)

ABX Treatment: 03/2016-04/2016
Buhner Protocol for Lyme and Mycoplasma: May 2016 - Present

What is you actual temp?

I felt feverish so much of the time that I had lyme. I was constantly taking my temperature thinking I had another infection.

Most lyme symptoms charts always say - flu-like symptoms and fever tops the list.

But, error on the side of caution and call your llmd and ask about it. Now is flu, cold, sinus season and you could have a bug. Better to be safe and call the doc.

I agree with PeteZa - chart your fever and watch for any connections to other things. Call your doc if you find your temp is more than 99 degrees and ask them. Many doctors don't want you to treat a low grade fever now, as it's the body's natural response to fighting infections, as Decarte said.

My temp is around 99.6-99.8. I was thinking the same thing...my immune system might be working and is starting to fight the bugs (this is me trying to be optimistic of course). I can tell when I have a low grade fever...I get pretty run down. The other herx symptoms that I have going on are head pressure and sore neck, but overall they are manageable compared to the two times I went on doxy (major depression/psychiatric stuff).

I will call my doc just to make sure, but I'm pretty sure this is a herx. It's good to get feedback from others who are in it or have been there. Makes me feel like I'm not crazy! Thank you!

LOL! There are times when most of us need to double check to make sure we aren't crazy!

You should likely increase your detoxing though - whether it's the immune system working better, or something else, detoxing will help if you are herxing.

Upping the detox a lot...will keep at it. How often can I use Alka Seltzer Gold and do I need to use it a certain amount of time away from the antibiotics?

I'm also on burbur, lemon water, green tea, epsom salt baths, Green magma drink, dandelion root tea.

Any others that would be good for me to try? My herxes seem to be from the neck up (mostly migraines and stiff neck muscles. The fever is new, but I'm not surprised...like I said...low grade fever was one of my first symptoms and it was persistent (it was the only reason I got the Infectious Disease doctor to start me on antibiotics before I could get to an LLMD). She said it was "fever of an unknown origin"...I knew better!

I would encourage you to use dry skin brushing as it does two things - lifts the dead, dry skin off and encourages lymph fluid movement. This is generally done once a day, but I know some enjoy twice a day skin brushings.

Here is a list of others you can try: www.tiredoflyme.com/detox-methods.html

Because your herxes are mainly centered around your head, I would encourage you to try Jernigan's Anti-tox formulas. He has one just for the nervous system: Neuro Anti-tox II PNS/CNS:
hansacenter.com/product/neuro-antitox-ii-cnspns-tm/

Pinella has also helped some with brain herxes.

Yes...forgot...have been dry skin brushing twice a day. Also taking turmeric and liposomal glutatione.

I've read about Dr. Jernigan's product and Pinella. Will look into those next.

I agree! Trav has been more of a rock for me than she realizes. Especially when I first came here and had a lot of tough feelings about being sick and being a mom. I really appreciate it! You are doing a great thing by paying it forward with all of your knowledge!

blush blush Awww, thank you both! I went through so much that I felt I needed to help others going through this as well. I "discovered" so much while trying to treat that if I could save someone from going through even one of the "disasters" that I went through, I've done a good thing!!! :-)

I'm a Mom of 2 wonderful kids, and ended up being a single Mom for too many years while sick as well. It's tough enough being a Mom, add in those other things, and we can beat ourselves up a LOT more than we should. My kids had to set me straight on a lot of that kind of stuff.
