I am back from seeing my doc about my Igenex results.

So here is what's going on:

Active EBV replication
Very high levels of estrogen
Some genetic issues with mitochondria and methylation
And of course, possible Lyme

With my test she was at first leaning towards negative and EBV being the root of all I'm dealing with, but as we chatted and talked about the Horowitz questionnaire, my history and symptoms, ect she is starting to think that I would end up with a positive Igenex if we treat. So she has started me on Samento and banderol for a one two punch, because it is effective to suppress EBV but also for lyme. So she said if I am feeling better while on it, EBV it is, but if I get any Herx's than it is also Lyme.
I am drinking some water with 5 drops of each in it as I type. If I am going to herx, how soon after I consume it? I am currently dealing with a multiday migraine anyway and couldn't sleep last night due to "growing pains" in my legs.

If you feel better, it could be lyme, as well. Not everyone starts off with a herx...before feeling somewhat better.

You really should start one at a time...

Herxing time is variable. My first herx was on Day 4 of Doxy.

It can happen soon after...or weeks after...or sometimes not at all (rare) - but that doesn't rule out lyme.

Samento and banderol are like candy cigarettes compared to a cuban cigar of andrographis and houttynia...for ebv Lysine and lomatium will halt growth but bee venom kills viruses

if you really wanna know dna connexion has a test with coinfections you dont need a doctor just $

Thanks for your input! I'm quite certain I am dealing with Lyme, I remember so clearly when my health began to fall apart. And yes, a tick was involved. Or ticks! Plus all manner of animals, horses, cows, dogs, cats, wild deer...
I don't know if it's psychosomatic but within a few hours of taking those tinctures, my migraine intensified a lot and my arms and back began to ache.
I was so embarrassed at the docs today, I ended up crying in her office when she simply asked how my energy has been. Crying over energy! I told her I didn't want my kids to remember their mom as always being in bed. I'm a mess today.
My mom has already ordered a few books for me, one written by the vital plans doc? And one on herbal protocols for chronic illness, and something about how to make your own tinctures or something. She is quite sure I'm dealing with Lyme too. She remembers the stark change in me, I was just a teenager.

I haven't heard of samento and banderol being that effective for EBV. Seems like most people use L-lysine or monolaurin, things like that. One of those is Cat's Claw I believe. I was on Cat's Claw for months and it did not touch my EBV levels. It did however help with Lyme along with Japanese Knotweed and Andrographis. Give it a good month or so to see if it helps with your Lyme.

Are your "growing pains" like restless leg? If so, maybe try some topical magnesium. It really has helped me a lot (along with oral mag). I do still get it slightly around the full moons. Which is so freaky to me.

That's interesting, thanks! She's starting me on gentler treatments first I think. I see her again in 4 weeks.

My growing pains are like bone pain, deep inside. They are one of my migrating pains. But I do get restless legs at times. I take magnesium and Epsom salt baths too. I do have topical mag somewhere too! I forgot about that stuff!

That sounds painful. I hope you get some relief from that. Must make it hard to sleep.

It's probably a good idea that she's starting slow. I make the mistake time and time again of trying too many things at once. Very hard to tease out what is working and what is causing troubles!

Well shoot, I don't want to waste my time on something that won't work. My doc was very clear about wanting to keep treatment affordable and not overwhelming.

It's incredibly important for you treatments to not be overwhelming!! Both for you to keep up with AND so that you don't end up in a severe herx, as they are damaging.

Since you have noted some improvements, I would encourage you to continue with this plan for now, but when you see your doc next, just make sure that there will be more added in to treat Lyme. Almost everyone with chronic Lyme has to start off "small" to avoid serious herxing.

Banderol and samento are for Lyme, not EBV, but you noticing changes is still a really good sign!

Chicknorris, Nutramedix has helped with Lyme with several in our support group in St. Louis so you are not wasting time or money. We all have to find what works for each of us. Trial and error unfortunately applies to us Lymies.

You can get ahold of the Cowden Protocol from Nutramedix. I do not by all of the stuff by the month, I purchase more on the actual products I need. As time goes on and I have improved that becomes less and less.

Someone mentioned above to do one at a time and build up and I think that is the best way so you would know what works and what could potentially be causing a herx.

Did you doctor tell you to also order Burbur and Parsley to detox?

I have been on Cowden for nearly a year now and it has helped me to the point that I hope to be back to work very soon after being on disability for 2 years now.

If you have any questions you can always email me and I am happy to help.

Jenny, I had one good herx on Cowden, and a couple of smaller ones. I did 9-10 months of abx before switching and had a lot of herxes on those. Herx on Cowden went away as soon as I stopped unlike Flagyl :). I just had a lot of improvement and was able to control gut health a lot better.
