Yes to all! It is so frustrating!!
A few years ago a sweet family invited my husband and I over for Christmas dinner as we had no family in the area.
We sat down to eat and they had a fluorescent light over the table. Instant migraine. Normally I wouldn't say anything, but the thought of sitting there for 2-3 hours was terrifying. I asked if it would be ok if I just moved to the couch or we could possibly turn off the light. It was SO embarrassing and humiliating.
It turned into this big ordeal where the lady(host) said that they had been meaning to change it out since it was old so why not now?
So her husband had to go out to the shed, (in the snow) find a new bulb and get a ladder. Then we all moved the food off the table, he changed the bulb, we moved all the food back to the table, and then were finally able to enjoy (cold by then) Christmas dinner. I could still "see" the near imperceptible flickering, but it was much better and I kept my mouth shut. I know she understood because she knew of my health problems, but I am sure the rest of the family thought I was crazy.
Fluorescents and those new energy efficient ones are the worst. What is it about
them that triggers these symptoms in us? For me it's getting worse and I'm afraid soon I am going to need to wear those big ol' black sunglasses they give you at the doctor all the time.
