Sorry to add confusion here, but I've had a terrible time with activated charcoal. I spent months trying to build up tolerance and finally switched to bentonite clay, which I'm not having a problem with. I'd recommend starting with a very small dose (an 1/8 of a pill every two or three days) and building up from there. Hopefully, you won't have a reaction and can build up quickly, but this approach is safer than starting from a full dose right away.
Bentonite clay is an excellent alternative, matter of fact maybe even better for getting into colon crevices and nooks.

You should take it with a full glass of water to avoid constipation from it.
