Going for any real length of time without the nutrients we need will leave any person dealing with these infections in a less optimal position to heal from. A weak body (one that isn't getting the nutrients it needs) simply can't take on the task of healing from a complex infection.
However, some do benefit from short periods of fasting, but that's hours, not days. When my intestines shut down, I go on a liquid fast for no more than 12 hours, but that's because fasting when a person has adrenal issues is going to make a heavy negative impact on them.
For those that are looking into fasting, you need to talk to your doctor to determine if your body can handle it, or if it will leave you even more compromised in fighting to heal from these infections.
In other words, be careful and be sure to not only do your research well, but be sure it's really right for you at whatever point in time.
