I take the rifampin right when I get up in the moribg but feel horrible until four or five when I seem to get a slight respite.

Can I take it other times during the day? If I took it in the evening would that maybe push the crappy feeling to when I'm sleeping? What has worked for others?

I'm on 600mg/day. Today is my sixth day on the rifampin/doxy combo

What do you feel? Fatigue?
It can be a herx. Do you detox well?
You can take Rifa in the evening as well - just make sure to take it one hour before meal or just before going to sleep (when you have an empty stomach)

Interesting to see this thread.

I switched my rifampin dosing a few weeks ago from twice daily to once daily - full dose.

I did several days in a row where I took it just before dinner because I was taking Artesunate in the morning and they don't go well together.

I started having difficulty falling asleep and then waking up early in the morning and not being able to get back to sleep.

So, last couple of days, I switched it to the morning/or early afternoon and I slept better...thank goodness.

So, go ahead and try it in the evening...it may help...or you may not sleep well...as I experienced.

bluelyme - THE dr. H. says it's okay to pulse?

Dr. J. does, too...and some other LLMD's who are also following his pulsing approach.

How about taking both the Rifampin and the doxy/mino every other day or every 3 days? Would that make any sense?
