So my new LLMD is putting me on Mepron (brand name) for my babesia.

With another Doc I had been on the generic Atovaquone with no luck.

The doctor seems to think it makes a difference. My insurance only approved for the generic.

My understanding is that it is quite expensive. Anyone have any luck getting it approved by insurance or finding it cheaply?

Feel free to respond here or via email!

Thanks!

I didn't realize that the generic brand wasn't as good.

i can't get it where I am...but I did manage to get 'gifted' a bottle to try...so that if I have a reaction and I know for sure I have Babesia...I can plead with my GP to perhaps prescribe more. Not sure if I will be able to convince her, though.

Just waiting to try it...will have to stop the Rifampin I'm taking.

My treating Dr. is ND and he can't prescribe Mepron.

I have looked online, and haven't found any.

Supposedly (according to my doctor and others with lyme), the name brand of Mepron is better than the generic. How much better I have no clue. I'm only going after the name brand because I tried months on generic Atovaquone with no luck.

Hopefully someone will "gift" me with one smile
