I'm currently suffering from candida and was considering using Florastor and came upon your posts while doing my due dilligence. I was wondering if you could tell me if you believe that Florastor was responsible for your saccharomyces cerevisiae overgrowth; whether the Nystatin was successful in treating the overgrowth as I read in your later posts that you seemed to have experienced some success with it; and also what probiotics you re-colonised your gut with once you had gotten rid of the saccharomyces cerevisiae (or some of it).
Sorry, I don't usually get other people to do my work for me, but it's quite difficult going through old posts on this site and looking through your post history and finding answers.
Hi! Sorry I missed this when you first posted. Hope you see the reply!
Not sure how much help I can be. I was indeed successful in knocking it back and improving my main symptoms associated with it. However, I am pretty sure I'd still be positive for it if I retested. So, I'd say I knocked it back but still have levels high enough to test positive for it.
I don't think the Florastor/s.boulardii caused it for me, but perhaps it made it worse. I believe I had this problem before s. boulardii became over recommended/pushed like it is nowadays.
Yes, pure nystatin probably did help me. It was one of the things I tried. I'd recommend trying the pure powder if it makes sense for you.
As I said in prior posts, the generic Diflucan did nothing for me at all.
I honestly don't recall which probiotics I used at the time. I have done so many over the years between me and the kids. I've been using Klaire Labs brand lately though. Many combination probiotics sneak the s.boulardii in them nowadays, so I have to read the label and avoid those. There are a couple of big name products (that seem highly rated) that I have to avoid because of that issue.
Have you read Pirouette's yeast post in the first (sticky) post on this forum? She is AMAZING on yeast issues. She no longer posts here, but she put a LOT of information about
yeast in that post. I suggest checking it out.
Wishing you the best with this! Battling yeast is so under-rated and not understood well. I did not get the help from allopathic medicine, and I had to do vast majority of it on my own to help myself.
Kid#1: Extremely sick for several years, very difficult to treat, but doing great now!
Kid#2: Still sick now despite being treated for years but doing better (not well yet).
Kid#3: Generally good but relapsing off/on.
Me: Adv Labs positive 2016 (suspected I passed to my kids)-not as sick as others, mostly battling fatigue and yeast issues (heart/kidney issues resolved)
Treating with herbals now.
